I’m sure politicians are gunning for the Diesel engine, so that may not be a good medium/long term choice.

That’s a valid point the government defo have a hard-on for diesel drivers at the mo, the focus could get expensive quickly. I run a focus at the mo and find it bullet proof as a whole.

The VRS every day of the week
The (new) Octavia's are beautiful cars and the VRS gives it some major kick!
Amazing smooth, comfortable drive with the family, fly's like shit off a shovel without the family.
Superb fuel economy as well when in eco mode

Skoda all day long for me. My last car was a Skoda Octavia, admittedly not this model but I had it for 12 trouble free years. Apart from fair wear and tear the only thing I had go wrong was nothing, absolutely zilch.

Definitely the VRS, a lot more suitable to your needs when you’re in dad mode and they go like a cheetah on crystal meth for when you’re not.
There’s a reason the coppers use them as pursuit cars.

We had a Triumph 2.5 PI, always in the garage. Then the Rover SD, nice engine but a diabolical vehicle. Oh how times have changed. 🤔

skoda, all day and night, the reason is simple, the other one has a ford badge on it Fix Often Regular Daily BMW man myself tried an Audi TT but found it a bit bumpy in the country lanes, good motorway car though. Take a good look at what journeys you do 0 - 60 isn't everything when you're motorway cruising all day or if you're a round town drag racer .

Focus, all day. Skoda is a sweet motor but I’m guessing your not retired yet . Get the hot hatch Skoda aint just for retired people, they have some great cars at reasonable costs as owned by VW now. The Superb is bigger, better than a VW passat yet look almost identical from the back, was ideal for me having 2 lads who were 6'3".

A spoiler and wider wheels. Carol says it would look very sporty, I'm more of a sensible driver with a twist of madness.

Honda all day long, I've spoke with people with a bad experience of most cars but not Honda. Best car I owned was a Honda, worst decision was to change it for a VW.

Had a Civic Type R ep3 Up to now hands down the best car I’ve ever had. The Vtec engine is a masterpiece Had it for 11 years and 11 of them I had no probs with it whatsoever. If it wasn’t for the arrival of twins I’d still have it now, I really do miss that car
