No negatives? The only reason we won the game is because West Brom are a very poor side. Hughes is lucky we weren't playing a top team because we could have been thrashed yesterday. First half West Brom had 3/4 goal scoring chances but they didn't take any of them because Rondon is shite. If those chances to fell to Aguero or Kane they would have punished us and we'd go behind yet again and we all know that we don't come back from a losing position. The ONLY 2 first half chances were taken really well. That was the difference; we finished our chances. So, 2-0 up at half time, against arguably the worst team in the league, we should have gone out surely looking to kill the game off. What the fuck did Hughes say at HT? We were abysmal and 3-1 was a flattering score line. So yeah plenty of negatives imo. Teams we should be beating comfortably (Swansea, WBA,) we are scraping to get a result. Hughes still has to go before he spends Coates' money on the wrong players, yet again. clucking bells, enjoy the victory it's Christmas time, they had Man Utd on the rack for the 2nd half last week, we scored 1 more past them than Man Utd did. So are we better than Man utd now

I'm afraid there were negatives. We were lucky 2nd half they were shite or a better team would have taken advantage of us sitting back. Good to get a win, but let's not get excited. I don't think anyones getting excited let alone carried away with yesterday. There were massive flaws in our squad and performance that were there for all to see. But it is nice to celebrate a win for a change. Unfortunately a small minority on here seem incapable of doing that anymore

Are people really that thick that they think you can go from having confidence on the floor one minute, to playing teams off the pitch the next.
Yesterday was about getting a result. Once they pulled one back early second half, the nerves set in for the players. They grinded out the result and even finished in style. That hopefully helps confidence a little bit.

Given the respective form and position of the two clubs I would expect us to have at least as much confidence as WBA yet despite the result they we're able to dominate us. I'm not having it that it was only after conceding that nerves set in and ruined our performance they dominated every stat bar goals scored in the first half too. If people keep hiding the truth, making excuses and trying to be positive without grounds nothing will change. We're a timid team with a confused manager playing awful negative football. Maybe facing up to the inconvenient truth will actually bring change instead of hiding from it and being "supportive" like we're parents of some sensitive young crap footballer. We're paying football fans for gods sake and the product is fucking awful.

The two 10 minute power naps that we have on 30 minutes and at the beginning of the second half are a worry too?

Just at times it feels that when we do win we keep going in circles, 3 or 4 bad followed by 1 win against a poor side

When you are stuggling you never play well, and it's getting results like yesterdays which will improve confidence and hopefully good performances will follow. We have the players, they just need to have more belief, they are more than capable of being a top half team.

We have the players, they just need to have more belief, they are more than capable of being a top half team. I agree with the green bits. I think there needs to be a lot more than the red bit. There needs to more methodology, better passing skills, more movement, and more awareness. The team don't seem to be sufficiently well drilled. Too many injuries caused by insufficient fitness and sloppiness/carelessness. The defending is atrocious, Ryan being the main culprit yesterday. Regarding the orange bit above, I would have agreed at the start of the season but not now as events have unfolded; Johnson is a lost cause, after a good start Fletcher has gone to the dogs, Berahino has failed to make a place for himself despite Jesse not being available, and too many players are good but not good enough for " a top half team", notably Pieters, Wimmer, Cameron, Crouch, Adam, and even Ryan on recent form. They are good enough to avoid relegation, but a top half position is doubtful and I think Hughes is right to say we need 2 or 3 players in January who can go straight into the side. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-mark-hughes-signings-972149There are managers, like Dyche, who can create good teams out of a mediocre squad, so there is hope that we can finish mid-table if we get our act together, even if the club are unsuccessful in securing the signings they are after.
