Getting my lad (5 yrs old ) a new bike, couple of board games and England Kit, and maybe Bayer Munich ( absolutely refuse to buy any Prem Kit for him other than Stoke) But German/French/Spanish is fine.
Will spend about 100 quid in total, an absolute fraction of what I'd have spent in UK, and he will be absolutely over the moon, material belongings here and keeping up with The Jones' just doesn't happen.
And for Xmas Dinner 15 to 20 quid a head for a bloody good meal.

There are tiers of toys. Tier one: The "Everykid". A stick A box A cardboard tube A piece of string or length of rope A rock Tier Two: "The Absolute Lad". A football A tree house / makeshift den A home-made soapbox style go cart An air rifle, bow and arrow / crossbow or catapult A periscope A Swiss army knife Tier Three: "The Nerd". Airfix Meccanno Scaletrix Lego Chemistry set Microscope Tier Four: "Sundries" Conkers Egg and cup Hula hoop Cards Slinky Those little paper snap things that you chuck on the ground Lawn darts Tier Five: "The Boring Bastard Normie" Consoles Computers I haven't included miscellaneous sporting equipment because it's its own thing. Board games aren't toys. I'd forgotten all about the chemistry set I'm willing to bet that you'd end up in court flogging those nowadays. Came across an article a few weeks back I can’t rememb where, it was about stuff like that being sold in the 50’s and 60’s in America containing radioactive isotopes lol 😂 Also recently there was CSI fingerprinting kit sold to kids where the print powder was made from asbestos 🤦🏻♂️

All I ever wanted as a kid was sport related ,football , cricket bat and a real "corky", I remember one year asking for a red and white striped football shirt, this was of course well before the advent of replica kits and was gutted when I got a blue and white striped one, apparently Evans ( of Longton) had run out of red ones and my mum could not understand why I would not wear the blue one.

Super Striker was great. Unfortunately it was taken off the market due to links to dementia.

Scalextric was always fun, seeing how fast your mini cooper could go before hurtling off at a corner and hitting the wall. All my action men met with a grisly end courtesy of having darts thrown at them. Loop the loop whizz wheels was improved massively with a light application of 3 in 1 bit messy but it worked a treat.

I had a Subbuteo and a Casdon Soccer game which I actually preferred to Subbuteo - I could never be bothered to reach over and flick the Subbuteo players, and I actually thought Subbuteo was boring. My Casdon Soccer was the one with Bobby Charlton on the box, although there was an England World Cup version as well as a Kenny Dalglish one. I also had about 4 large Meccano sets which ended up all mixed up in the same box and I made hundreds of different things with it - loved it.

Speaking of football games, did anyone have Tomy Super Cup Football? Noisy as hell with a ball that was so small.

This cricket game was mega! Yes my eldest son had the cricket game and it was really good. I had to help him set it up when he was young and it soon became a regular game for us to play for quite a few years.
