Anyone fancying Chinese ownership needs to be careful what they wish for. Everything coming out of China has to be sanctioned from the top which is fine so long as everything is going swimmingly. But the minute Xi decides he wants the cash to build a new steel works rather than frittring it away on football then those clubs owned by the Chinese will be in for a torrid time. Steelworks are being closed in China because of overcapacity, so it just goes to show how much you know about the country and how it operates.

At least our owners have some sort of profile and are aware of public feeling. If they don’t choose to react as people want them to all the time so be it. Try following a club like Sunderland or Birmingham where they have zilch contact and are totally disconnected from the local population. Quite frustrating I would imagine.

If everyone's owned by a foreign billionaire willing to plough cash in, we'll all be back to square one won't we? If I was in that position there is no way on earth I'd buy Stoke - unfashionable, not much potential in terms of crowds, not in a big city, no past glory to trade on. I'd buy Leeds or Newcastle. Unlike Barnsley FC, of course....

Can't see the current chairman here selling us cheap.

Steelworks are being closed in China because of overcapacity, so it just goes to show how much you know about the country and how it operates. The steelworks example was purely illustrative. The constraints on Chinese capital leaving the country are both current and real and were put in place by China's state administration very early last year. They have had a significant impact on M&A activity involving Chinese businesses - a number of whom up until then had been extremely acquisitional outside of China.

If it comes down to it, then I'd much rather the Chinese take over than the criminal Russians or the dirty Arabs. I think the saying is 'filthy Arabs'

If the Chinese take over, say goodbye to the meat pie at halftime and hello to the boiled chicken foot. So, hell yes!

It's not like we haven't had foreign owners saving us from stagnating under Coates before is it?

It's not like we haven't had foreign owners saving us from stagnating under Coates before is it? Oh but he's local and says he's a fan. Yet despite all that he's worth close to a billion personally and the family is worth billions yet have put the club in this position because they don't want to part with any of it.

Either of the Bristol clubs have massive potential also! Agree with what you say though.

Chinese billionaires do not guarantee anything. Look at West brom Neither do local ones look at Stoke. So whichever sort of billionaire you take your chances with they don't come with a guarantee. So which do you go for Chinese/local/Arab/Russian? I'd say a good starting point would be to ignore where they come from and get the one who at least says he'll invest some money in the club rather than one who quite plainly states he doesn't want to.

Peter (Lord) Coates sell the Club?? You're having a laugh aren't you.
Unless of course he reads this message board and thinks...
What a bunch of ungrateful twats.
Denise... what do you think? You know what I think dad.
