The article reads like a rant from an irate Oatcake poster, just a cut and paste job of selected posts, but that is the standard of Sun journalism. You cannot argue with facts, but many of the facts are irrelevant and some of the comments are misleading and relate to last season and not this season. There is also a total absence of any of the good points whilst ranting on the bad points. Quality journalism is supposed to be balanced. Irrelevant facts: What happened last season or the lack of wins over 30 - 66 matches is irrelevant. Hughes started a clear out of players in the summer, those he didn't want that he couldn't sell, he has loaned. The season started with a very different squad. So it is only the performance over the last 13 matches that matters. The fact that we only beat lowly teams last season and failed against top 6 sides is irrelevant, all that matters is this season's performance. Absence of good points: Stoke are the current 9th highest scorers in the Prem and scored more goals against the top 2 teams than any other team. When they lost heavily to Chelsea they were hampered by injuries. The high number of goals against is primarily trying to take on ManC and scoring twice at the Etihad. No mention is made of beating Arsenal, or stopping Man United's run of opening wins and scoring the first goals they have conceded this season. Lack of Balance: No reference to the difficulty of the opening fixture programme, injuries to key players like Shawcross, Shaq, Butland and (IMO) Cameron, and no comments from supporting fans like me. The article says losing at Palace "leaves them deep in the mire of a relegation battle" ....... "3 points above the drop zone", but not 3 points below the top half of the table, or the fact that losing didn't change the position in the table. Nor is there any mention of the fact that Stoke have played more games away from home that at home, and have only played twice at home against teams in the bottom half of the table. A totally one sided rant, aimed at selling copy. You beauty. I'm a bit giddy on all the helium of negativity at the moment. But I couldn't have put a better perspective on it mesen anyway. Tek a Bow MrCoke. But thankfully it doesn't seem to be in the paper yet. Sun on line clocking hits perhaps.

Still can’t hide the fact that we’ve been absolutely awful for months! Don’t even get excited going to games anymore. I’ll always go and support our team but its hard work atm I haven't found our performances, certainly the recent ones, awful. Frustrating for sure. Disappointing definitely, but not awful. I've seen much worse in our premier league years though perhaps nothing quite so bloody frustrating. I actually agree with that and think it's pretty fair, our last 3 efforts on the road at Watford, Brighton and Palace have without a doubt been among our better efforts in recent times, 4 points from a possible 9 was scant reward and desperately disappointing.

I find the fact that he's a Stoke fan more likely that he's picked up pieces from here. The phrasing is identical to the type of stuff you see on here on a daily basis. Reveal yourself Dickie! Thought you meant me, for a minute!

Awful website and paper but this article is on the money, I wonder if Hughes reads the papers.
I still think he will be here and we will be mid table at the end of the season, sadly I don’t think he will ever better his performance so far at Stoke - he has wasted money, it’s a real shame as if his signings had worked out then it could have been so different.

Undoubtedly written by somebody who has been or regularly reads the Oatcake. The Sun is a newspaper I would not give any respect. This is the sought of paper that would start a campaign to oust a manager if they thought it would sell a few extra copies, and not give a dam about the consequences of their gutter journalism.
As an aside I noticed on MOTD2 extra on Sunday lunch time, the host commented “ The Stoke fans are not happy on social media”. I immediately thought he’s been reading the Oatcake.

A totally one sided rant, aimed at selling copy. Agree with a good portion of that mate. I didn't read the article before scanning the first few replies, so when I got around to reading it I was expecting something insightful and well-researched; not pure clickbait. Way too much credit being given to the 'journalist'. Spending more than 15 mins on this board would have given him most of his material quite frankly. The lack of balance and not actually presenting a case that considers the situation in its entirety is not what I would expect from a well-considered article. You saying that last season is irrelevant though is absolute rubbish. And whilst our first 8 fixtures were particularly challenging (probably only matched by Leicester's in terms of difficulty), with each and every passing match, that excuse holds less and less weight. With over a third of the season gone a good number of the the teams will have had a period of difficult fixtures by now. 13 points in 13 games: obviously if that plays out over the whole of the season we will very much be in a relegation scrap.

Your constant whining about anything and everything is equally so You actually mistake my ramblings as tolerance. Bristol city was utter shit. Man city was utter shit. Newcastle was utter shit and I wasn't slow in criticising everyone involved. Recent performances and early performances are far from utter shit. Disappointing definitely, frustrating certainly but far from utter shit

Mate I think it's a bit rich of you to tell people that what happened before this season started is irrelevant, when yesterday you were saying one of the primary reasons you want Hughes in is precisely because of what happened before this season started.
You're completely contradicting yourself.
I am firmly in the Hughes camp, why? 3 9th places, + 13th place,

We offered Glen Johnson, Ibrahim Afelly and Charlie Adam new deals to keep them here past their expiry dates that were meant to be last summer. They were the deadwood then and they are the deadwood now and it's of Hughes' making. That's a little unfair on Afellay. He was injured a long time, but before that did pretty well for us. He's now fit but hasn't had the chance to show what he can do, as Fletcher and Allen apparently are undropable. Agree about Johnson and Adam, but it does appear they will be freed in the next transfer window.

I was but am no longer in the Hughes camp either
all I want is for us to have a go --- and not just until we get in front when we just seem to disappear up our own arses and sit on a lead -- any lead to be fair and for any length of time
Start at the right tempo -- stay at the right tempo -- finish at the right tempo and I absolutely believe we have a team that can comfortably hold our own in the prem
Keep on slowing the game down - standing off and defending too deep It will end in tears for us because defensively we aren't as good as we think we are
This for me is why Hughes has reached the end of the road --- He was a superb player but too cautious a manager
No way though could I say this is as bad as the shit Pulis was serving up

He has picked up the trend and the key points
We have become a soft touch Football is mostly slow and dull to watch We do struggle in key positions The majority of our expensive signings have flopped Fans are losing heart
His agenda is no doubt to create more of a story but there needs to be a pretty sharp improvement or we will struggle hard to say who will go down in such an even league ?
I think we may have just enough but lose the likes of Shaq in January and it will be heavy going, especially if others down with us strengthen well.

If we decided to cash in on Shaqiri in January then we deserve everything we get. My opinion is that he'll go in the summer, there's not a chance he'll go in January unless we receive an absolutely massive offer.
