I hope it was just a case of resting him early on Monday and managing him through the full fixture schedule we have now through to the New Year. Voluntarily not selecting him if not injured is simply not an option!
Edit - how can you dislike a suggestion NOT to rest our best player?!?!??!?!

Do you think for one minute that Hughes would voluntarily rest his best and most creative player unless the said player suggested himself that he wasn't fit to play? If Shaq doesn't feature tomorrow it will be because he doesn't want to feature. If he wants a rest, take it against Liverpool on Wednesday night. He needs to be at his best and helping to guide us to a decent points haul from the fixtures v Palace and Swansea.

Yeah what a fucking great idea, rest our most creative player against the bottom side in a must not lose game. I do hope someone's taking the piss. Gouranga.

This doesn't sound like Shaqiri wanted to come off on Monday.

This doesn't sound like Shaqiri wanted to come off on Monday. He's not likely to say "Shaqiri is a bit of a fanny who was angry with us because I made him play for longer than the hour which I asked him to give us....To be perfectly honest, it was a bit of stiffness and he needed to man the fuck up because his team and manager needed him" is he?

Maybe he wasn’t happy that his legs are causing him major issues. Again. Hard to read a players thoughts by his actions to be fair.

He was asking to be subbed a good 10 minutes before he eventually was subbed on Monday night. You always say this 😂😂 If he wasn't asking to be taken off then he was certainly highlighting that he was struggling as he was constantly looking over to the bench, throwing his arms about and generally sulking. It was clear to see, several people at the game all commented on it after their goal......

Keeping Shaqiri on the pitch v Brighton would have given Crouch much better service Keeping him on could also have risked him having to sit out all of our next game.

Allied with him being seemingly fucked off at actually being subbed, I'd suggest he wanted more from the side/bench. A fair shout really.

Have I really just seen/heard that? No you haven't just heard that. You have heard a comment which said that Shaqiri was taken off early on Monday night because he had had a bit of muscle tightness the day before the game. In other words, Hughes felt that taking him off on Monday would make it more likely that he would be fit for tomorrow. In fact it has been confirmed he is fit for tomorrow as we have "no new" injuries after Monday.
