He's been average at best, he should have been a whelan upgrade but still thinking and looking for his best attributes to the team. Joe allen is like a headless chuken but always gives his all.... FLETCHER couldn't cross a poling card on Monday !

So you don't think he's an improvement on Glen Whelan?

He hasnt made over 100 consecutive appearances in the top flight, with different managers for nothing Often a meat and potatoes MF like Fletcher will often go un noticed, especially if you watch online or highlights
Suggesting he is dropped at the weekend is akin to suggesting Christopher Lillicrap be selected as the next James Bond

Fletcher shouldn't need to cross the ball. That's the fullbacks job.

He gives the ball away a bit more than I thought at times but generally he has been ok , we dont have anyone else who can do that job anyway he is a lot better on the ball than Cameron

Maybe instead give him more help by having Geoff play alongside him and Joe Allen in front of them (which would necessitate a switch back to 4-2-3-1)?

Geoff Cameron is not the answer to any of our problems (unless we have injuries).

The suggestion last week was he could be fit for this coming Saturday, but I guess we will know more in Hughes pre-match press conference.

If we're dropping Fletcher because he can't cross the ball, shouldn't we be dropping Shaq because of his inability to defend corners and Diouf because his shot-stopping isn't up to scratch?

Geoff Cameron is not the answer to any of our problems (unless we have injuries). His type of muscular athleticism can be useful in the middle of the park, where I have always felt he is best suited to the English game.

I would drop Pieters and play Choupo as wing back. Back four Kurt, Ryan, Bruno and Wimmer!

His type of muscular athleticism can be useful in the middle of the park, where I have always felt he is best suited to the English game. It is, but when combined with the inability to pass a ball to a team player it becomes irrelevant. He does have his uses but is a squad player only IMO.

FLETCHER couldn't cross a poling card on Monday ! Joe Allen has been superb this season. Fletcher has been ok, and has put in a couple of very notable performances. But when you are playing in a two man midfield, with wing backs in each side that are ill suited to the role, AND you don't have pace, then you are going to struggle. Allen and Fletcher would look so much better in a 4-2-3-1 protecting the back four and feeding shaq as the playmaker operating in a central role

I'm funny like that.
