Great story but with regard to 'The English managerial success story shunned by the Premier League' it would take a brave board to hire someone no one has ever heard of from Sweden straight in to the Premier League wouldn't it? I mean can you imagine the fans of Palace, Everton or West Ham on hearing the news? 'And our new manager is Graham Potter'...'Who??!'

Yeah Prem would be a leap but you’d think he’d register on the radar of a middling-but-ambitious Champo team sooner or later.

Wasn't it Graham Potter who missed the sitter in the last few minutes of the play - off first - leg away at Leicester?
I still feel the pain of being at Filbert Street, jumping up and shouting "Goooooaaaaa............ oh bollocks!" when the keeper saved it.
Actually, maybe I'm being unkind, I seem to remember it was a decent save.
Or is my memory playing tricks again?

Away at Gilbert Street we should have been 2 up after about 10 min. Then the return leg it looked like we simply rolled over. Though even worse memories of the 2nd leg in a play off against Walsall... Kav's goal was summat else, but FFS...Gavin Ward.... I always hated playing against Don Goodman, he was summat of a bogey player thru the years.

Appointing a David Moyes or Steve Cotterill character is a bigger gamble than appointing Graham Potter.

Should be the next Stoke manager IMHO. Peter Coates has nothing to lose and everything to gain. A play-safe appointment will result in more of the same which is now slipping remorselessly towards relegation.

There have been plenty moments in my time following Stoke when I've thought we had nothing to lose. Sitting in the most lucrative league in the world, pushing towards our longest unbroken run as a top-flight team, and situated inside the 30 richest clubs in the world is not one of them I have to admit.

Yeah, stupid headline. There's no way a Premier League chairman is going to punt on him based on accomplishments with a bunch of egoless no-names in the low-profile, 25th(?) best league in the world.
That said, his record is obviously impressive and you can maybe see a Championship club going for him soon.

If he's happy over there, why wouldn't one of the more heavyweight Swedish clubs nick him? He seems to have been able to create his own culture from scratch there and has been given the time to do it, notwithstanding their rapid ascent. Good luck to him and yes, why not a Championship club. He's effectively both British and foreign!

Pretty much ploughing the same furrow as Roy Hodgson, he made his name in Sweden. hasn't done a bad job with middling clubs in England.

When Hughes eventually leaves, Potter coming home to Stoke would surely be a gamble worth taking, compared with some of the ne'er-do-wells we will inevitably be linked with.

We got murdered 0-0. How Goodman didn't score that day I'll never know. He got through on goal about 4 or 5 times. We were very lucky to come away with a goalless draw.

Having read the article, there are shades of the rise of Brian Clough in there. Let's see if Graham can push a provincial club to top honours like Cloughie did.

That's a descripition that once applied to Roy Hodgson. Whether that is actually a recommendation or not is another matter, but it didn't do him any harm.

More BBC publicityHe's one to watch, definitely. Ostersunds' next Europa League group stage fixture is 23 Nov, at home to Zorya. If they win they've qualified (from a group containing Athletic Bilbao and Hertha Berlin!)
