We were very privileged to witness and see those throw ins.
We will probably never see the like again. Great times and memories.

No matter how many other long throws have come after Rory none have had that flat vicious trajectory he gave them, which was the reason it was so effective Far better than the throw demonstrated above, more exorcet than merely a long lob!

Rory did more to put us on the footballing map than any other player has done for decades. To see some of the best goalkeepers and defenders in the world absolutely petrified at the thought of him throwing the ball in theor box The way in which a simple throw in could lift the crowd beyond belief. I really wish he was still part of the set-up at Stoke. One of my three favourite players of all time along with Ric and Ryan.

I first saw this flip throw when I was a teenager in the '70s, can't remember who it was that did it, but all us lads were trying to do it for weeks after when having a kick-a-bout. Seem to remember in the '60's Chelsea had a long-throw specialist a bit like Rory, buggered if I can remember his name. Can't remember much can I? Age catches up with all of us in the end I think that was Ian Hutchinson. Played in the same team as Osgood and Charlie Cook?

Did they score from a long throw in the FA cup final v Leeds? The one that went to a replay. I hate getting old....

People literally all around the world recognised, loved and admired the throw, and by association us. "Football" is not Arsene Wenger and a handful of curmudgeonly puritans in the media. Although I agree people from afar enjoyed this, quite a lot closer to home frowned upon it, not just Wenger some teams even moved advertising boards closer to the pitch to stop Rory getting a run-up. There's a difference between frowning upon something and being shit scared of it

N0 - My memory is not THAT good, had to check it out - its in an old coaching manual I've got!
