I'll put money on it.

The chairman is correct to make these statements. A lot has been said over the past few weeks and even with the excuse of a horrific start fixture list wise we have still been very poor at times.
The reaction we see in the next five games will tell its own story in my view.

Nothing controversial really...
"Didn't play well. We were very poor. Man City were fantastic, one of the best teams I've seen"
"We've had one poor game in the league, apart from Bristol City when we were exceptionally poor. Chelsea was totally different, especially with our entire defence being injured - and every mistake we made, they scored"
"I was amused by one view that we need a young, up-and-coming manager like Watford. Well, they lost 6-0 at home against Man City"
"They're 4th and having a good season - but they still lost 6-0"
"You can't get carried away with the good days or the bad days"
"I know the manager likes Edwards a lot - he's a great crosser of a ball and we hope he's going to become a regular in the future"
"We need a response on Saturday. No easy games in this league. Lots of very fine margins in games not involving the top 6"
"Frustrating to see the injuries at the back, but we know Wimmer's a good player"
"Optimistic Berahino will come good. He's had 2 years off the radar and we need him to score"

Perhaps Coates realises that Wimmer is being asked to play while far from 100% fit because needs must, unlike the experts on here who won't entertain the thought, even though they know he's missed a game or two this season.

It would be interesting to see how he treats his manager's behind closed doors. Publicly he backs them to the hilt. He's one of the very best around for that.
I wonder if he puts them through the mill a bit away from the media?

We're lucky its that way round.

We also have a lot of Stoke supporters who want much better than what we are producing nowadays. Forget the City result, we've looked poor in quite a few games. Had a bit of luck as well. I want better. Not satisfied. End of. The manager and his staff bring the players in. Too many injury prone players brought into this club. Just look at the injury record over the last couple of seasons. He can rarely, if ever put the same team out. Time without number, waiting on the fitness of this player or that. I've said before, I want him to succeed, but let's get real. We give the ball away too cheaply and too often. We very rarely see a decent free kick, whether it's put in the box, or an attempt at goal. Something needs to give, and it's not our players. I want, and sincerely hope to see better! Ranteth overeth!

You don't half fly the flag lad. Perhaps Messi will sign for us next week as we become the City of Culture or perhaps Maradona will take the Manager job ( wouldn't put anything past him) but continually making excuses is wearing a bit thin. I've said before skill is largely a born with or without thing, fitness is a reward for hard work , effort is what every player should give, given the amount they are on. Caring goes hand in hand with pride . I only saw a few who seemed to care and there is our problem. Acceptance of poor results due to a small time attitude that runs right through the club right from the top. IF HE ISN'T FIT DONT PLAY HIM. IF WE HAVE NO ONE ELSE SACK THE FOOL WHO IS RESPONSIBLE.....Simples in it.

If he is not fit enough to perform up to the standard required in this league why is he playing ?, what's wrong with Johnson he has been played at CB before or is he not fit either ? our players rarely look as fit as the opposition at the best of times why is that ?

Injuries and fitness aren't an issue though and it's certainly not down to the coaching methods.

One poor game in the league? Erm ok. Maybe his mind is not as good as it was, basically we have played well once this season out of eight games, thankfully we have amassed eight points which I admit is two more than I thought but we are not playing well. Coates is backing Hughes publicly I wonder how he really feels about our recent expensive signings and in particular Imbula ?

Next 6 games will tell us a fair bit Citeh are very good but not world beaters Napoli could have taken something there tonight . Way out of our league of course but we contributed a fair bit to our own downfall . We are back in our league for a few weeks now so we can see how we go on .
