2 weeks on from his apparent return to Fulham, he's still talking about 'we' and discussing next season? I know he's been here for the best part of 2 seasons, but it still seems a bit odd if he's now back with Fulham at a rival club? www.icons.com/zakuani/diary.html?13.05.08Potters will learn from Derby's mistakes
The biggest credit for our promotion has to go to the manager. He brought in the right people at the right time and he really knows how to get the best out of players. Some managers forget a bit about you when you're injured but while I've been out Tony Pulis was always coming in to see how I was.
Right now nobody is thinking too much about next season. Everyone just wants to savour the moment. But before long all minds at Stoke will turn to the Premiership. We know our style of play will have to change a bit and that we'll need to bring in three or four players.
We had a taste of it when we played Newcastle in the FA Cup and we matched them in the first game at our place, drawing 0-0, before losing at their ground. I suppose people see us a bit in the Bolton mould and that might be partly true. Everybody is looking forward to the best teams coming to town.
Right now nobody is thinking too much about next season. Everyone just wants to savour the moment.
We are strong in defence and I think if the team can turn the Britannia Stadium into a fortress Stoke will survive in the Premiership. The fans will play a massive part and they have been fantastic all the time I've been here.
There are three mini-leagues in the Premiership; there is the fight for the top six spots, the battle against relegation, and the bit in the middle. I think Stoke can definitely be in that middle bit. We have to look at what happened to Derby and learn from their mistakes.

He's a decent player and still only young, definitely worth signing on a permanent as long as Fulham didn't want too much in my book.

he's a right laugh too! i often speak to him in fluid, says he's been offered a contract but was in two minds whether to sign because his girlfriend lives in fulham and he's been with her for ages. bet he will now we're in the prem though.

GOOD SQUAD player, even in the prem
TP has banged on about players with the right attitude & Zak clearly ticks that box.
compliments Shawcross well - as in playing attributes,I dont mean he's good @ saying "Ryan your ace!"

Get him in, I think he's quality. He was pushing for MOM v Wolves and can play CB or RB which is a bonus.

Zakuani has great potential, him and Ryan could provide a potentially fantastic partnership IF we sustain in the top flight.

they paid £1m for him,so £500k might be unlikely?

His positioning is off for my liking at right back and he gets causght out. At centre back though he is quality.

must admit right back isn't his cup of tea in the centre though he's class, think he much prefer's the space and partnership at centre-back

A very good centre back and with experience can only get better. Seems to fit in well with the rest of the players. Sign him up Tone if only as cover.

Depends on the fee - solid cover since he came, never lets us down, but is he worth £1m? I'd be happy for us to pay 500k mind.

I'd pay at the most 2 million for him. He's definitely worth paying 1 million anyway.
If you look at his age and the quality he brings, there aren't many better regards to the ratio of Cost and genuine ability.

Why ????? Similar to the Bothroyd case really that if he can't get a regular slot in the side at Championship level how could he at Premiership level? We don't need to fill the squad for the squads sake do we?

I'm just a bit confused why Pulis wants him, even though he was as committed as you could hope for, and had a great attitude whenever called upon.
Having been consistently behind Cort (who with the best will in the world isn't a Premier League player) in Pulis' pecking order all last season in the Championship, to then go out and buy him for a tilt at the Premier seems a little strange.
We've already got plenty of Premier squad filler with this year's starters before buying up last year's C'ship squad filler, haven't we?

Egg-zack-er-ley, grapey. We have the squad fillers already, so we now need to bring in four or five certain starters. Like I said, IMHO £500k would be good business - anything more a waste of cash better spent elsewhere. SIOCH - 2m!??!?!??! You're 'avin' a larf!

Who would you prefer though: -Cort or Zakuani? -Shawcross or Zakuani? -Wilko or Zakuani? -Griffin or Zakuani?
In my opinion he is a great player but will always be a player that sits just outside th team for now until we knowfor sure, that he is good enough for us. Becuase he isn't playing, he isn't even getting called upto international squd either is he???

And I'm just disillusioned with Griff.

Distribution needs working on But great attitude - I'd sign him We need a much bigger squad than currently you have to consider who would be on the bench (7 don't forget) once injuries and suspensions start to kick in

I reckon he'll be fine for us in the Prem and feels like one of ours too. Definitely on a par with Wilko and Dicko, maybe not the raw talent of a Shawcross but I also think Tone really likes him. And if he hadn't been injured we'd have seen a lot more of him last season.

better defender than Dicko right now,Dicko is still young of course & has potential to be a prem regular if his distribution picks up.
