Some people thought they would struggle but cleaning up West Ham 3 zip and then dispatching Swansea in their own back yard means they will be in the top half when we go to St James Park next weekend.
Rafa back from his operation too pulling the strings and of course Joselu (remember him?) leading the line.
What's the plan?

We'll do a Rochdale on 'em of that I'm quite confident. Our wing backs will pull them apart and we'll muller them. The NE in general and Newcastle away in particular have been tricky Prem fixtures with double sendings off and all sorts but I don't like the vibe from 'Castle at the mo. Ashley offering big player bonuses for a Cup, contradicting previous 'it's all about the Prem' messages, while seemingly not backing Rafa for this tilt. And his hernia and absences from these initial games, and links to replace Bilic. A touch of turmoil. Listened to bit of the game today, they were fairly dull, Joselu squandered three or four chances, subbed off, but they did nowt much to trouble a weak and narrow Swansea. Nae mither.

Resurgent? They have beaten a poor Swansea side and a shocking West Ham. That doesn't mean they will be a push over but nor does it mean they are resurgent.

Wrong way round, sorry.
Newcastle are facing a resurgent Stoke.
We've already held our own against two 'big' clubs. Newcastle are at best unproven in that regard.
It's them that should be worried, not us.

Beating Swansea is no great achievement.
Even the Vale would stand a chance against the relegation no hopers.

It's always a tough away day, but I think they'll be far more worried about our form than we will about theirs. It's a winnable game and we should be going there to take the game to them. We've done very well against two of the "elites" and also ground out a decent away point at West Brom....this one should give us a glimpse of what we look like when the onus is on us to go and take three points from an inferior side. Looking forward to it.

Great performance Sat but they're looking more confident too. For me I think we have better players but they're at home so a tough one to call. Only change for me would be Indi in for Geoff even with no injury. Everyone else deserves to keep there place even if Ryans fit.

One of those games where the first goal is crucial. Newcastle look well organised at the back but fairly industrious all over the rest of the pitch. Concede and they'll aim to shut us out where we tend to struggle, take the lead and we can hurt them further as the game opens up.
I'd go with BMI for Cameron as the only change, 2-1 to The Potters (Allen, Shaqiri) with a late Joselu consolation.....

Big game, hopefully we can get the three points.
Echo the above poster, first goal is crucial.
Take the lead and we should coast to victory.
They haven't got much attacking wise so if we are on our game defensively then we should take this.

Could come down to who the Ref. is. Exactly providing we don't pick up red cards we have to be optimistic on present form

It'll be interesting to see if Ryans fit whether he plays. For me I'd save him for Chelsea when Zoumas out. An extra week won't do him any harm.

Shouldn't be scared of playing anyone in the league now, but it's games like these we often balls up.
We need to be smarter in possession and improve our passing. Too often gave the ball away cheaply at the weekend.
If everyone's fit then the team sheet writes itself for me. Go out and get those 3 points!

Tricky away game for me this one. The fans aren't as deluded as they used to be either. Probably tempered from the relegation and the fact Ashley didn't give Rafa ANOTHER shit load of cash on top of the £75+ million he had last year!
They have good players too like Richie and Diame that I rate and a lad up top that has a HUGE point to prove. Gutted to not be going this one, first one I've missed this year and I hate it when I have a break!
I would take a point happily!

Renato Sanchez may as well have had a Newcastle shirt on, he gave them the ball 23 times in under an hour. I'd like to think Joe and Darren will make it a little harder for them.
Swansea were awful but still had chances to level. I'm optimistic for this one, keep it tight first ten minutes and i fancy us to win 1-2. Joselu to score a header, should have had another yesterday, outstanding save from Fabianski.
Optimistic for this one, as i am for the remainder of the season following our start to the season, bar one lapse in concentration against everton we'd be unbeaten.

Such a tough one to call. A win either way wouldn't be a surprise - you'd think both clubs see this fixture as winnable.

Any points at all for us is a good day at the office.

They will be in a resurgent mood and the crowd will be giving them strong support. They have had 2 good results and are sitting in the top half of the table above us and everyone will be expecting to win. Rafa will point out our performances against Arsenal and ManU.
We should remember they are still basically a Championship side and don't have the depth of talent we have.
We need to keep them out and wait for them to press forward too much and hit them on the break. If we play like we did against ManU we should be alright. I watched the full match again yesterday afternoon and the thing that struck me was how well ManU defended against us with their GK, fast defenders, anticipation of passes, etc. MOTD said we exposed their CBs; I watched it again closely and apart from the errors that lead to our goals I thought Jones & Co played well against us. Against a lesser side we could have had a bag full of goals.

I hope they are cocky that will play into our hands. Doubt Benitez will be so naive as to come at us all guns blazing but we have the quality all over the pitch to win the game. Let's hope the ref is as sensible as those we've had to date, and keeps the cards in his pocket

Interesting to see that they scored from a corner against zonal marking against Swansea, no doubt they will see Man Utd did it against us and be looking to exploit that area.

Worth remembering that our new look team is still 'gelling'. In theory, we should only improve.
I saw so much in that Manchester United game that was oozing positivity and class. Of course it wasn't a perfect performance but I wouldn't expect that of any team.
This is going to be a good season for us. All the "vibes" (that have been missing for a few years now) are there, even the manager oozes confidence, not something Sparky does with ease I have to say.
