I have always felt that the Spanish and possibly others are very jealous of the Premier Lge and its international ,financial, success.
I am sure they would like to muscle and cash in. The most likely root is to entice our greedy top six elite (we all know who they are) into a European super lge with games played God knows where. Maybe this is a first step.
It would not bother me if it happens. We can get our game back.

Barcelona and Real Madrid stopped being real football clubs a long time ago, really.

Barcelona and Real Madrid stopped being real football clubs a long time ago, really. What makes you say that? Barca is a club absolutely rooted in its region socially and politically, has a 7 year waiting list for members and is hugely committed to developing local talent. Yes it is expanding its global brand but to support not weaken its local Position.

Really hope that won't happen as they then certainly will take away something essential in football! Might sound a bit weird to say this by a Norwegian supporter, but to me traditions are really important when it comes to football. I don't like the new name of our stadium either and always refer to it as the Brit! I also disaprove that our shirt has a white panel at the back and I would really like all the PL games to start at 3pm on Saturdays too. Yes, I know I'm just a 52-year-old supporter who doesn't like too many changes when it comes to the club I've supported since I was 10 years old!

I’m local and believe you support your local team through thick and thin... end of. I had just got used to it being called the Britannia, although I missed the Vic to be honest. But Bet365 is just shit. I hate the white panel too... why? not really necessary. KOs at other times... crap. I understand why but still...crap. I’m getting old I guess.

They do their very, very best to sell themselves out across the world and pack the ground out with tourists. All the stuff about Catalunya seems to be PR fluff, like all of that 'Republic of Mancunia' stuff that they have at Old Trafford. Like Man Utd, they obviously have a fiercely committed local support, but I don't see them as being better in any way, shape or form. I suspect that if they played in this country, we'd view them in much the same way.

The global entity that is the Premier League misses out on several salient factors if it seeks to resurrect the daft 39th game concept.

I just hate having foreign crap shoved at us all the time even transfer deadline day had news about transfers that didn't affect us(Britain) in any way shape or form.
No matter how hard they push I really don't give a shit about matches that involve foreign teams, I watch my teams that is Stoke City and England and anything else I haven't got time for.
If and it's a big if a match directly affects one of my two teams like another world cup match or if I'm bored shitless I might watch it. On most occasions 5 minutes of MOTD is more than enough of the big six show and sky sports news more than covers any foreign crap I might want to know about.
When Messi has the balls to come and play in England then and only then will we know how good he is , with 5 seasons under his belt we would know if he is the best, at the moment we know he's good and Spanish defences and keepers are on a par with Scotland.
Our league is the best in the world because it is the most competitive in the world and that is why it attracts the money. If Spain and other countries want more money in their leagues the I suggest they spread the wealth so more than 2 teams can compete. No one wants to watch a massacre every week, it gets repetitive and boring. Unless it's Vale of course then it can be fun and exciting.

Yes it is expanding its global brand but to support not weaken its local Position. The current board are not dedicated to developing local talent at all. It's one of the reasons a lot of fans are turning on the board and Bartomeu in particular. They've been selling them off and replacing them with expensive signings. They aren't the club they were 5 years ago in terms of the academy and having that engrained in the club.

The age part was my conclusion too! As for supporting your local team that's probably right, but before I even knew about my local team I started watching football on TV. In the seventies only games from the midlands were shown in Norway for a period, and I sort of got very fond of this team called Stoke. My local team by the way played in the 4th tier of the Norwegian league, but after it was merged with another club it doesn't really exist any longer. I also follow Rosenborg to a certain extent, but as they are 45 kilometers away I didn't grow up as a fan of that club either. Stoke is my club as weird as it might sounds.

My nearly 9 year old nipper said only yesterday that "The Bet 365 Stadium" is a shit name. Well, he didn't say shit but his eyes did. He said it should just be called "The Stoke Ground". I'm with him on that.

None of the top leagues in Europe are particularly competitive - including the Premier League, I'd agree the football is more exciting in the Premier League but it's hard to make a claim for the Premier League having the best teams - the top teams in Spain, Germany, Italy and France have demonstrated they are far better over the past 5 or 6 european tournaments.

That 70s TV has left its delightful legacy of a loyal and hardcore Scandinavian support. I like the way that their offspring and spouses have caught the passion as well - I was moved a few months ago when a pre-match Viking invasion of the club shop witnessed an equally enthusiastic bunch of Norwegian teens brought over by their mums and dads. Always welcome in the Stokie family. Vis Unita Fortior.

But those teams do not have to contend with teams like Stoke, Southampton, Watford, etc and so do not need to cater for that type of football which is far quicker and vastly more physical. We have been watching foreign teams falling over, feigning injury and rolling on the ground at the slightest touch since the 70s. Well they have infected our league with that shit but not to the degree that it is in Spain for example. The German league still only has two or three top quality teams but is more physical. You would not see the bottom club get within a mile of beating the top club in any other league, here it is a regular event. We all know Arsenal have a good team the match stats show it every time they play us but how many will bet against us when we play them? Not many, they know that the difference in skill is made up for in effort and pride. That fact is echoed throughout our league. Pep Guardiola says he would have been sacked by Barcelona and Bayern Munich after a trophy-less season. doesn't sound like a competition at all more of a show like the x factor.

The global entity that is the Premier League misses out on several salient factors if it seeks to resurrect the daft 39th game concept. This was first discussed 10 years ago by Dave Richards, called the 39 th step a gimmicky catchy name but of little interest outside of this country
