The program for Transfer Deadline day is an absolute farce with them trying to make something out of absolutely nothing. Combined with the farcical "Sky Sources" that have been so spectacularly wrong about so many things throughout the whole window, one wonders how long this sham of a program has left? This must be the 3rd or 4th window in succession now where activity has been the best part of nothing yet they make a 24 hour program out of it. Perhaps it's only saving grace is the women. Hayley McQueen, Kirsty Gallagher (a piss head and a scratch golfer...what's not to like ), Natalie Sawyer etc. Given that we get to see these beauties on a daily basis anyway, is there really any future for this hyped up shower of shit? Anything that sees Jim White fucked off to somewhere that stops my ears bleeding is fine by me.

At least we won't have suffer it during the season next year if they change the deadline day to before the season starts.

So you prefer a news outlet to sit there, sigh, then just say 'sorry.. dunno what's happening!' ?
It's designed for people to dip in and out and get rumours. Somewhat similar to a bloody football forum.

Somewhat similar to a bloody football forum. If you dipped in a 7am this morning then again at 10pm tonight, it would have been reporting pretty much exactly the same thing courtesy of a different beauty! The point being that for the 4th window running, it is a complete non-event that has been massively hyped into something it clearly isn't.

Well major excitement on deadline day.....
Sanchez stays, coutinho stays, van dijk stays, Evans stays, Barkley stays, mahrez stays,
No major transfers, most clubs having frustrations
Time for deadline day and Jim to disappear

It absolutely is a non-event. But whilst enough people tune in to find out what's happening they might as well fill it with words and sounds and pictures related to football..

Are people saying the whole window is a damp squib or just deadline day?
I believe a record £2 billion+ was spent in this window as a whole, the biggest ever outlay, so its hard to argue nothing happened.

You will struggle to find any sports news outside of football news on SSN today when in reality there is very little football news to actually report on because next to nothing has happened. Today should be no different to every other day in the transfer window. No need to dedicate 24 hours to what in actual fact is a whole lot of nothing.

Fair enough, some people seem to be confusing the two in this thread. I don't have Sky and it was certainly a 'whole lot of nothing' for us!

It's never been the same since the reporters moved inside the ground or training complex. I used to love seeing them mingle with the fans outside...I always remember the Villa guy with a blow up doll waving it about, plus some pussy chant while the reporter was rattling away ......Natalie Sawyer's face when they went back to the studio 😀 Classic television!

Just let teams buy players at any time during the season, what's the problem? That would be brutal though, any in-form striker could be poached, tapped up and leave at any time! In fact you could cripple a club if you wanted to and had enough money and just intentionally derail their season. I think the summer one should be shortened to 2 days before the start, maybe even the week before the start of the new season

Just let teams buy players at any time during the season, what's the problem? Just exactly what problem is the transfer window there to solve? As far as I can see all it does is make clubs' business increasingly more desperate, which means that there's always at least one club (in this case Arsenal) who gets a last minute exodus of players with then no time to replace them. It's just a pointless circus.

I think the summer one should be shortened to 2 days before the start, maybe even the week before the start of the new season It worked ok in the old days. In fact, we would have been relegated in 2003 if we hadn't been able to bring in lots of loan players in the final third of the season. Having a deadline just ramps the prices up in desperation.

Clubs should be able to do business between July and August, and January and February.

I didn't. I put it on whilst I got ready for work yesterday morning and I flicked it on at about 9.30pm last night and quickly changed channel to the BBC. Gone are the days where your work diary would be arranged around deadline day.

As I said above, it was absolutely no problem in the old days. In the olden days there wasn't the same level of money about. Just had a look at Man City they let 34 players leave this window. You would get the bigger clubs derailing clubs just for the sake of it.

Correct, it would allow the teams with bonkers money to manipulate the league even more.

Most decent managers get their main business done beforehand to avoid the squalid exhibition of last day over-spending on mediocrity born out of desperation and failed "swoops" for unrealistic targets as the clock ticks down. Only the dinosaurs like Redknapp and Pulis revel in it these days.
Make the deadline across Europe 31st July, settle the squads before a ball is kicked and put a stop to the Jim White madness on Sky.
