Who's the player at Stoke you especially wanted to be a success but wasn't?
I always had great hopes for Martin Carruthers, but after years of denial☹️I have to admit he was shite 💩Oh how I wanted him to bang in 25 goals a season.

SuperDave Rowson. He had all the attributes but the management just seemed to have it in for him. Never given a fair crack of the whip...

Leigh Palin. Though he could be a really classy midfield creator but he disappeared the minute we signed him permanently.
Granted, he did give me probably the best mental of my formative years. More out of relief than excitement...

I always felt Tuncay was overrated and not to the standard of players we have now, but he was a likeable player so it would have been nice. Paul Connor always annoyed me though. His best skill was fouling opposition defenders and giving away needless free kicks.

Riki was possibly the first player that I recall the reality being so far removed from the initial optimism.

Berahino.
Obviously that can only help us.
Also one or two on here will be gutted if he succeeds as they have been desperate for him to fail from day one as it's far more important for them to be proved right.
It would be worth it just to piss them off.

There was a striker who we signed upon our promotion. I remember being really happy as he had previously looked the business at his previous club and I oh so wanted him to succeed. He could have been a hero but alas it wasn't to be.
And who do I blame for that...?
Dave bloody Kitson... that's who!

He of the big hair, an alice band and a 'hot' wife Vanessa who worked in 'media'. Pulis was always going to be at least suspicious of him, he prefers short back and sides and the kind of upstanding fella who washes his car on a Sunday Attachment Deleted

yep thats the fella - a proper footballer ( I thought) who, was told how to play in a 'lump it' team
he offered so much more and on occasion - much to our managers angst, showed us what he was really capable of
a real shame to me was that

Bony, would have love to have seen the 20-25 goal striker who came from swansea, not the one ruined by the amount of splinters in his arse from man city's bench.
