10*. Can't fault any of the players, all played out of their skins considering we were under the cosh second half, well set up and tactics brilliant. Crowd were awesome, loudest they have been for a while and Hughes was out of his seat from the get go showing real passion.

10* Positive team selection. Right subs at the right time. Excellent, measured, comments both before and after the game, with a bit of grit simmering underneath. All very reassuring. Steady as she goes.

8 * would have been 9 10 f he had tried to take back a bit of midfield control by swapping Allen for indi and putting Cameron in midfield for a bit of presence but I will be honest that's picking as they threw that many forwards on to win it it was limited

Got the team to show some of the steel and battling spirit which were missing last time we played the Arse.
Would still like him to either play two up front, or have somebody closer to the striker to support him, like when Berahino and Jese combined for the goal.
The marginal decisions went our way for a change yesterday, but we made our own luck.

9* here. The pace and energy that missing so much last season was there to see yesterday, and what a difference it made. Jese looks the "Real deal" (pun intended) and Bera played his part in the goal. I was hoping to see BMI come on to release Cameron into midfield as legs were starting to go...but to be fair to LMH, losing Pieters put the kibosh on that one. First half Max was a bit quiet but he really came into his own in the second period and was linking nicely with Bera to give the defence a bit of respite. Defenders worked their socks off, Jack showed he really IS England's #1 and Mame is, well, he's Mame I look forward to Fletcher running the show at the Hawthorns!

8 - I'm want some headroom for (hopefully) what's to come.
Excellent performance - but we did sit back too early after the goal and they could have nicked it. As the players become more familiar with each other hopefully they will have the confidence to push on rather than just defend what we've got. Having said that the defence looks far more likely to hold out than last year.
The first 15 minutes were a revelation - we looked to be operating on a different level in midfield and upfront to last season. I was worried that bringing on Berahino for Shaqiri might take the momentum out but Berahino's link up play with Jesse for the goal was excellent. Having better players in the squad could well up everyone's game and bring the best out of them (Bojan - I'm looking at you)- there's certainly some real competition even to get on the bench now.
If this squad can live up to the potential shown at times in this game we could be in for a special season. Like Spinal Tap maybe we'll need an 11...

10 plus 10 points for beating Arsenal. Coming over for the ManUre game - can't wait. I have never seen them lose in the PL.

9*
I can't say I agreed with any of the substitutions at the time they were made. But, on this occasion, he got it right, his subs worked and the team spirit he managed to generate in pre-season got us over the line. As OS says above, 2 games ago they battered us at our place - that seems a long time ago now. Normal service has been resumed, I'm pleased to say.

Anyone who gives less than an 8 is an agenda driven fucktard.
8.5 from me.

Any time we beat Arsenal, it's a 10 from me.
Defensively, this is the best we've looked in a long time.
We look like a side that team are going to hate playing against and once the likes of Coupo and Jesé get a few more games under their belts, we should have some fun this season.
