I'm at Leipzig station having a beer. The title of this thread was Diouf as a central striker. That ship sailed a long time ago. He played well today, and scored a good goal but if you think he's a central striker then all the lols in the world work you. Your central striker has to have enough pace and movement for your team mates to be able to play you in... Aguero sanchez vardy lukaku defoe That's his job. To be on it. To keep making the runs that offer his team mates the chance to play him in. Who are the players, you think we have, that do this better than diouf?

Whats really, really sad about all this is:
Our starting striker next Saturday will be picked based upon his price-tag and not what hes actually contributed to the team since he signed.
Dont get me wrong, I want Berahino knocking em in for us - 15 - 20 PLEASE
- jesus wept ! we've spent enough and been patient enough with him
but whilst his form has been poor - abject even
Others at the club have been taking their chances and doing rather better in his key position
And we all somehow know, next Saturday, they will either: played in another position - benched - not even in the matchdaysquad
or worse still, sold cheap by our currently hopeless football management team.
And that is a very, very sad state of affairs - I cannot imagine any reasonable Stoke City supporter can justify or, condone.

Probably not where he wants to play but at the moment our best option? Certainly if we go three at the back he has to play right wing back.Johnson is finished and our coaching staff should be having Diouf plying there every training session from now on. Shocking how we haven't addressed out full backs in the last four windows and something massively wrong with Leslie or the club if they can't see it.

He is definitely my choice at right wing back if that is our formation! If not I'll play him on top or on the right wing, he would certainly play in my starting 11!

Mame should be the first name on the team sheet wherever he plays, bombing up the wing or winning balls back in the oppo's half. His pace and endurance are world class. He stretches defenses or pins back wingers in their own end. Central defenders fear him because he runs circles around them and makes it very difficult to play out of the back. Get him in the side against Everton, Les!
Although that Minnesota Timberwolves' lid is a bit disconcerting....

If you think football is 49 percent ability and 51 percent attitude, then diouf is the first name on the team sheet.
I do, so he would definitely be in my team.

His smile! Doesn't seem too sold on the idea of playing wing back does he 😂 Does not sound very happy. Playing a 3-4-2-1 during the first game of the season against Everton, Mark Hughes decided to use striker Mame Biram Diouf at wing-back. Not exactly skilled in the defensive department, the 29-year-old performed as best he could, but he wasn’t exactly delighted about it. In fact, Diouf isn’t entirely happy with how he’s being used at Stoke in general, which is primarily down the right-hand side, as he told Senepeople in his home country. He said: “They tricked me! What can I do about it? They trapped me because I originally played there to help out when we needed someone to help out due to lack of options. I did it, and after that I’m not sure what happened. You’ll have to ask the manager.” Refusing to be compared to Victor Moses, Mame Biram Diouf admitted he’ll have to make do with the situation, even if it’s not what he wants, because ‘it’s football and I like to play football’. While doing what is needed to help the team is commendable, his national team manager, Aliou Cissé, addressed his striker’s problems in a press conference relayed by Senego, urging the Stoke forward to find a new club if he isn’t happy. He said: “He’s not forced to stay at Stoke. I think there comes a time when you need to take your own responsibilities. Players need to, at some stage, decide what they want at club level. “It’s easy to say I’m not happy and stay. No, I think that if you’re not happy, you leave, otherwise don’t say anything and do what the manager tells you to do.” The ball is in your court, Mr Diouf.

He's not a trouble maker but he deserves to play up front at the moment , as the only player in the squad quick enough to play up top .
Unless jese is match fit and can play striker ? in which case I guess he will be quick ?

To be fair to Diouf those quotes have been translated twice and taken out of context. Here's the original interview and it should be noted that he was also laughing his head off: www.stokesentinel.co.uk/they-tricked-me-mame-diouf-explains-how-stoke-started-wing-back-conversion/story-30478817-detail/story.html

Diouf is a good lad who always gives his best no matter where you play him
I think he was half joking and half serious when he was quoted . Certainly wherever he plays he will give his best .
But until we sign someone quick who can play striker ( maybe jese ?? ) I think he deserves to play there
