Which in itself a major achievement by Mark and his team as we were told by Mr Coates we had the strongest squad we have ever had last season !, I agree by the way this is a very weak unbalanced squad and make no bones about it this of the managers making. Piss poor transfer dealings over the last four windows coupled with baffling footballing decisions have destroyed what we had, Coates has taken the easy option keeping Hughes here the club will suffer because of it, this season I believe will be our last in the PL. I agree . Any other manager with such a poor transfer budget in the premiership and selling of our best player and spine of the team would of walked . It clearly shows the lack of ambition of everyone around the club off not of - two different words

I think they have a point . Are we not a weaker team now then the team last season I think we are . And what ambitious statement has the club made up to yet ? We're stronger than the team that started last season. Butland over Given for a start. BMI didn't start the season, and now we have Zouma. Who knows, maybe Bojan will be revitalised, and Berahino should be ready to show his best. Ramadan has proven he can do a job, and he has a good shot at hitting the ground running based on his attitude and appearances last season - when Arnautovic started poorly. Who knows if Ramadan is a 30+ starts player yet, but he's a very decent replacement to start the season with. Edit: although I am concerned about losing Whelan, Walters and Bardsley all at once - three players who don't go hiding. Fletcher should be an upgrade on Whelan though. 'Stronger' are you serious ?

IMHO we are about the same as when we started last season, and our start was absolutely dreadful! However, the squad is very much weaker than it was at the end of last season, and our ending was a complete disaster. Let's not kid ourselves, the present odds of 13/2 for relegation are very generous. I wasn't setting up for a bite. There must be at least 5 or 6 teams with worse squads than ours at the moment, so predicting relegation is extreme, in my opinion. Yes, it could happen, but it would take an extreme turn of events. I bet we would have had more points on the board with Butland in goal at the start of last season. I probably agree that our squad is weaker than it was at the end of the last, but we're going into the start of a new season, and there are still 2 weeks to go until it starts. We can't progress every season either, and last season was a disappointing one. Now we're due a good one! 'Stronger' are you serious ? In my opinion, the team is stronger than the start of last season, yes. Middlesborough last, vs possible first game this: Given - Butland (also benefits what's in front of him) Bardsley - Johnson (very debatable - if Johnson can get back to good form, I'd pick him, though would prefer Bardsley to start the season) Shawcross Wollscheid - ZoumaPieters (hopefully recovers his form again - he'd mostly been Mr Reliable until last season) Imbula - AllenWhelan - FletcherShaqiri Bojan (you can do it Bojan, I love you!) Arnautovic - Sobhi (as I said, Arnie had a poor start to last season if I remember rightly. Ramadan will hit the ground running) Diouf - Berahino (Berahino, if he recovers form, but another very debatable one) I am more optimistic than most posters, but I don't see how that's so controversial.

I had to bite and ring in lads. Too much panic and talk of a sure relegation from most callers. I don't think things are as bad as they made out. Yes we need to bring 2/3 players in, but have a little faith. We have 4 feasable options up top if used correctly. Bera if we get him scoring and the right service has the potential to emulate that season at WBA where he nearly went to Spurs. Diouf can score, we saw that a few seasons ago. Not a first choice by any means but a reasonable sub. Ngoy has so much pace, so much potential. Game time could be prove crucial and if he gets it we could really see something of this lad. Crouch, a different kind of game, if we need a plan C/D, bring him on with Bera/Diouf/Ngoy alongside him and see if any can benefit from his hold up play and aerial flick ons. I love Sobhi, I love Shaq, I think we'll see a beautiful partnership between them this year. Bojan...well...if he returns to the form he was before that injury he can create magic, he could be the man that can find Bera when he makes the runs he has been. We do need full backs no doubt. That is a must. Allen Fletcher will work well I think, option of Imbula if he doesn't leave. Its coming together, slowly, but by no means do I think we're even close to relegation candidates. There is a lot of potential but to many ifs, buts and maybes. We need a few solid players who aren't risks. When you look at our first 11 there's a hell of a lot questions that need answering Jack - top keeper Johnson - Is he done as a player. Lots of mistakes in him. Eric - woefully out of form towards the end of last season. Ryan - Will the back hold out. Will he ever be the player he was. Geoff - Solid but not quite good enough to be a PL CB week in week out. Allen - Can he play CB. Fletcher - A very good signing for me. Bojan - Will he ever be the player he was 2 years ago. Shaq - Will his calfs be Ok. Berahino - Stiil so much to prove. Sobhi - Looks good but will he be as good as Arni. "These questions—and many others—will be answered in the next episode of... Soap Stoke."

It's not controversial, it's just incorrect. The problem is we are worse of than we were at the end of last season and the gap between Stoke and teams we competed with last season has widened considerably. There was a point when we looked like a decent side that could compete with Everton, Southampton, Bournemouth, West Brom, and West Ham, challenging for the Europa League and one of the cups. Those teams are investing significantly and we haven't spent a penny (yet). If we don't strengthen in all positions, we'll be in a relegation battle.

No one knows how the season is going to go. Is it incorrect that the players I've bolded are better than those that were in the same position at the start of last season? How has the gap between us and the other teams widened considerably? And there's no way we need to strengthen in all positions. I didn't even mention that there are more youth players with a chance of breaking through this season than in recent memory - probably ever since I was old enough to be a fan (early 90s).

you are avoiding the questions about Ronaldo . So you are a shit fan off school then. I'm a stoke city season ticket holder and if I am at school is no concern of yours . And I'm alarmed u wanted to no if I am at school as your repeated your question twice asking if I am . So on that note it's best u not talk to me thank you You need to go to summer school too as there are many mistakes in your posts.

I was being positive I thought I realise I've wrote this in the wrong way I meant and that I've responded rather late but was in relation to me being annoyed in how you responded to Durham. Reading your twitter you seem very negative on Stoke and rightfully so but it didn't really translate into the argument, it almost sounded like you were defending him . At the start of last season we did not have a goal keeper of the quality needed at this level.
Had we had either Jack or Grant we would almost ceartainly have finished in a far more healthy position.
So we have lost Arnie a great disappointment. We have lost old faithfuls that many contributors on here were calling for. (Not me).
So what is the problem ?
Fed up of listening to the whingeing. Don't know what the season may bring but I am sure that we will still be in the Prem Lge in 2018-19.
Would I like us to be successful? Of course I would.

Reading your twitter you seem very negative on Stoke and rightfully so but it didn't really translate into the argument, it almost sounded like you were defending him . Although tbf you weren't given much time 1. My Twitter is not a complete representation of my personality/thoughts, especially since starting full time work. 2. I in no way defended Durham, I had a conversation with him about how I felt. I don't want to go into the new season feeling completely doom and gloom about it, so I want to be positive, which I tried to say in the two minutes I had. 3. I have had pelters for being too negative, now pelters for being too positive. Can't win. Oh well.
