The after match interviews at the weekend seems to indicate MH will start with players who did not start in France, with several getting 90 mins. So my guess starting: Grant Bardsley Zouma Wolly Tymon Verlinden Adam. Muniesa N'goy Imbula Berahino Jesus! Ngoy is injured though I think. I know N'goy was missing at the weekend but this could also be the League Cup line up. At the end of the day it a friendly and getting all players up to speed.

Especially the central midfield. I know the depth in midfield is a concern as I have not seen a strong contender in U23 or youth level, or even good enough to go out on loan.

Just to quote 2 other posters "I'd rather have 1 year in the Premier, 2 in the Championship and 2 in League 1 than be Stoke for 5 years." "I'd rather watch Miranda on continuous loop than watch Stoke." Priceless!

Butland Zouma Shawcross Muniesa Diouf Fletcher Allen Tymon Shaqiri Berahino Sobhi Quite frightening that , you might be right on the selection , but after the first 4 names it's far from a premier league team , lacks critical physicality in midfield , and a decent  pass from any of them , diouf for me a better number 9 than berahino , Cameron would be in my central 4 and tymon and sobi loaned out to get experience , at least 4 short of anywhere near . "Sobhi loaned out to gain experience" Behave yourself......

Can't imagine we've shifted more than a few hundred tickets? There's two of us making the trip from Cumbria anyway, looking forward to it!

Anyone have any idea how many we're actually taking? Been offered a ticket in home end but rather sit in the away end if there's a few there

Game time will extremely benefits him and us if we want him here.

Apparently not. Even Bet365 aren't broadcasting for their gambling punters.

I doubt radio stoke will even bother with a commentary....so we will be relying on fellow supporters at the match to give us updates which is pretty poor for a club of our stature

Blade in peace here!
Looking forward to this one tonight. Sounds like you are going to put a strong team out and it will be good to see how we fare against that. I read some of the previous comments, especially those about remarks made on the S24SU board. I'm afraid it's par for the course that all clubs get some "utter tools" on such messageboards, I don't suppose we're much different to any other set of fans in that regard. I thought what was interesting though was the perception of the way you play football. Some of our fans still see Stoke City as a bit of a clogging team. I think that goes back a long, long, way actually and it's probably no more true of Stoke City than many other clubs. We are still regarded as a long ball team by some fans, and that goes back to the Bassett era. Once you get tarred with a certain brush eh? Here's a little clip of the type of football we played last season (and yes, I appreciate it's only the pub league - but we were a bloody good pub team all the same!). I think some more of this style of football will serve us well this coming season in the Championship and hopefully tonight when we come up against your lads.
Facts are, we haven't seen much of Stoke City or any other team in the top 2 divisions for such a long time! And I must admit, we've missed it! Thank God we've finally stumbled across a manager who knows what our club is all about and has done a bloody good job of not just recruiting a team of good footballers, but good footballers with the right attitude and work ethic.
Some of you were asking about pubs before the game. There's a few on Bramall lane itself which you probably know all about if you've been before. They tend to be mainly home fans in those. If you like your real ale/craft ale, it's worth looking up The Beer Engine (near Waitrose) - that's an easy 10 mins walk and it's the right side of the ground for you. They've got a very good ever-changing selection of cask and keg beers, maybe a dozen on tap at any time. They do good tapas and they've got a nice little beer garden (yard) at the back. Plenty of Blades fans go in there but it's a friendly place and definitely worth a look.
If you arrive at the train station then it would be rude not to pop into the Sheffield Tap, on platform 1. Very good selection of beers there. A new bar opened about 18 months not far from the ground, called The Sentinel Brewhouse. If you are walking from the railway station towards the ground you'd pass it on your right. It's on Shoreham Street. They brew their own beers on the premises and turn out some nice stuff. Plenty of space out front for drinking and again it's a friendly crowd.
A bit further out is the Sheaf View at Heeley. It's only 15 mins walk to the ground and it has a good selection of beers and a nice terrace. And there's a big Wetherspoon's called "Sheaf Island" next to Waitrose which should appeal to all tastes.
Enjoy the beer. Enjoy the game and I hope we might play a competitive match in the Prem before long. Good luck for the season ahead.

I'm a stokie but lived up in Sheffield for ten years now. Love it up in Sheffield. A lot of my mates are Blades fans so i heard a lot, if not too much about the relief of finally getting out of league one. I cant help but feel you've not really invested in many players with championship experience since getting promoted, other than Stearman. I think you might struggle next season, despite many Blades fans thinking you're going to be more than alright and challenge the pigs. Anyway, all the best for the season, good for the city to have you back in the championship and looking forward to the steel city derbies again.
