Arsenal were even worse earlier, relegation? Maybe they were but then they didn't play a team just promoted to the top league in France . The results don't matter it's how we are shaping up and today it looked as though we are looking as we were last season . Arsenal were playing Chelsea. we were playing the relegation favourites from an inferior league.

Man City are better than Arsenal. The moral of the story is friendlies mean diddly squat....

No midfield, awful defending and didnt create a chance. Thats one relegation position filled then.

I hope - I really hope - they were all under orders to not pick up any injuries - or even break sweat - today. That was DULL! Amiens didn't seem too bothered either.

We've already played the same amount as last season and have 3 competitive games against Sheff Utd, Bolton and St Pauli all to come in the space of 7 days....

We seem to have knocked all the confidence from Sobhi, like all our players they never attempt to take a man on, it's all stop pass sideways. Our coaching is shockingly bad. God help Verlinden now he has stepped up, all guile will be drained from him. Sobh will be a star for us.

Maybe so then I haven't seen any pre season this season prestwich I've just looked at views from certain posters I trust and seem to be echoing similar traits from last season Here's hoping the gaffers ideas of a slow start are part of the big plan And we'll be firing on all cylinders by early August

Am going to the next two purely because I promised to take the little 'uns but genuinely I find it impossible to get even slightly excited by pre-season. As long as the intensity and fitness levels ramp up over the next week or so it's all good....

We were hopelessly undercooked last year. We get progressively less fit as a squad of players every year and I fear that this year the chickens will come home to roost. Hope not. But our ore-season outings are always a bit half hearted. Results don't matter but the general work ethic of the team does.

FFS lads. Ignore pre season results / performances.
It's all about fitness and getting minutes.
It gets ramped up closer to the opening day, if we get smashed by Everton and put in a shit performamce... Then you can moan
Until then just give it a fucking rest

I don't think we will. I think we'll spring a surprise there They can sign all of these players for big money but they've lost Lukaku who was there only real threat. He was the difference between where they finished and the rest He's gone. Granny shagger has arrived I aren't remotely worried about the bin dipping blue nose wankers

They will definitely need to find a replacement for Lukaku before they start the season! I think Koeman is class though and they have a very good squad now. I think we will struggle but let's see. First game of the season is often a strange one anyway!

Pre-season is shit and means sweet fuck all - I wouldn't pay tuppence to watch a friendly - its all about the first 6 matches - then we can make a judgement....

Stoke have never won a league point in a preseason friendly, come to think of it no other team has either.
What I watched today was a bit like last season but several players are still trying to get their game and passing up to speed before the real season starts.
Hughes can at least see what the back players can offer and get them use to playing with the first choice players.

Thank God I didn't see a moment of this game but like a sad fuck just read this thread from start to end and there is only one conclusion. We are the wankiest set of fans on earth! See this is why I stopped watching games last season...when sober. I watch most games online. I was getting too angry and frustrated. When listening to radio commentary or just checking the result, I always felt positive. When you actually watch us, and you see shaqiri, johnson, pieters, bojan passing it backwards throughout the whole 90 minutes, not creating any chances, doing the same things time and again, that's when you get angry and vent on this mb Same shit different season coming up, minus Arnie we are absolutely toothless and totally clueless Mark and his team you are destroying our chances of staying in the PL, Glen Johnson FFS extended contract what the fuck is he doing to us if only he could manage to fuck off properly we might have a chance this season.

We lost to Newcastle Town 2-1 a few years back.
Now shut up moaning. Pre season friendlies are nothing to read in to.

We lost to Newcastle Town 2-1 a few years back. Now shut up moaning. Pre season friendlies are nothing to read in to. People were saying that last season and usually I agree but it turned out they were something to read in to. And massively so. We don't look like a cohesive team and haven't for 18 months. Now would be a great time to change that and to develop some patters of play. We don't seem to be doing that other than passing it sideways like we have done in that time. That has to be a worry surely?
