Went for one last weekend while down south at a reliable outlet, big mistake. I now fully understand why we used to eat them after hockey matches at midnight after far too many beers. Creation of Satan, or a big sod off machine somewhere. Anyone ever had a decent one.

Creation of Satan, or a big sod off machine somewhere. Anyone ever had a decent one. Not sure about the horror stories associated with those big hunks of revolving meat, but..... Like you say post-boooze everyone is a good one. Persepolis on Piccadily was always good, but again never had one sober. Last one I had was from opposite KFC in Boslem, it was ace and did the job nicely. Got me hankering nah. Lemon, a dash of chilli sauce, and that minted yoghurt thing for me. Must get pissed fost.

Had a few good ones but always ask for lemon or the riata as this tends to give it more flavour rather than smothering it in chilly.
One place here serves a family meal of mixed meat and they serve the salad pitta and sauces separate all served on boiled rice the juices of the meat then go in the rice really good

I love them sober. Go ahead, ostracise me. Wankers. To be honest I prefer all food with a booze starter. Whets the appetite.

That wouldn't be a suitable description of my troughing habits though. A gallon a day helps you work rest and play etc.

It's all in the nasty sauce, get that right & everything follows 🌶 That's the key i reckon. "Would sir like chilli sauce ", tip that gear on and you can hide anything. Extra chillies!. Christ you could be eating anything. Still fun though.

No, it was like a calzone kebab. It was unreal. Came in a pizza box, was about 5-6 square type pieces.

Worst case of Doner abuse was our captain who managed to demolish a large one while waiting for the taxi after a night out in Hitchin at the Chinese and a tour of the towns pubs, disgraceful behaviour.

There used to be one that did awesome kebabs on London Rd. in Chesterton (it's called Family kebab house today). When I used to work at THE, on a Friday evening we used go have a few beers in Chesters (now the Roebuck) and then grab a doner whilst we waited for the bus/taxi to take us to 'castle.
