We shouldn't be playing a loanee over permanent players who are class and have a good partnership already. Presuming of course we sign BMI. I agree, but I just think Zouma's on another wavelength to Ryan. With pace too. If BMI signs permanently, zouma and BMI would be my starting 2. It won't take long for them to click and the pace will get us out of trouble too. If not, then Zouma at RB. But I think we should spend big on someone like Gibson next summer to permanently take Ryan's place. Then what next season when Zouma leaves back to square one.

So if we sign BMI, you would play him and Shawcross together ahead of Zouma? That's madness. Easily. They're our players and for this season and the long term benefit of the club it makes most sense. If BMI signs as well, I'd play Zouma in midfield. The thing about that is Chelsea will surely have stipulated where they want him to play? And.. how often has he played there? Ryan, great as he has been, shouldn't just walk in the team. BMI and Zouma partnership would be a lot better.

We'll have someone like Gibson to permanently start for us alongside BMI. Another loan for someone different could work as well, just as it's hopefully going to work with Zouma after a successful season of BMI on loan.

No slight at Zouma either as he's a very good defender. But the manager is making a rod for his own back if he signs BMI too.

None of them are our players would prefer permanent deals to loans. I just feel we were after BMI found its not happening and have paid a lot of money for another loan that gets us no further forward.

Some amazing responses. Zouma has signed for the Champions for the next SIX seasons, after his loan with us. What more does he need on his CV?
Of course I would prefer to buy him, but that is not the choice. Prefer to buy the nearest talent to him, in that position? From whence the near three figure millions? Put Ryan in as a definite ' because he is our captain? Yes, one who is refusing to sign a new contract, for whatever reason. Jeez, we are so lucky, just appreciate it.
I worry, too, that it does nothing for the seasons ahead. But at least he should keep us in the PL while the youngsters are getting more experience or another more than decent player comes to our notice and we make an early offer, knowing that Zouma will not be staying. Of course a top replacement will come only if we show our ambition in the next month by buying for the positions we so drastically need NOW. And I think we will.

Welcome to Kurt even if it's just for a year. I would have preferred Bruno on a permanent but credit to the transfer team to move quickly with a plan B. It seems like a real coup with so many clubs interested in him, should provide an interesting watch...Bravo Stoke!

My immediate worry, as well. But fear dispersed when realising that he had pjsyed for them close season and since and Chelsea obviously don't consider him a risk.

It seems like a real coup with so many clubs interested in him, should provide an interesting watch...Bravo Stoke! Plan A is still probably operational though imo! 'Bruno Martins Indi could sit tight on the final 12 months of his contract at FC Porto if they refuse to sell him at a reasonable price to Stoke City. The 25 year-old Dutch international is prepared to see out his contract and so leave Porto losing him for nothing at the end of next season. ................... If not, Martins Indi will take his chances on becoming a free agent and could join Stoke for nothing in a year's time".
