Initial gut reaction was that we are absolutely fucked. The only player to consistently create anything. Contributed directly to 25% of our goals last season. He's our best outfield player and our talisman.
Having calmed down a bit, at least he's under contract, we hold the cards and anyone who wants him is going to have to spend big. Invest that money in Gray and we'll have a pool of four very exciting wingers.
Then there's just the other 3-4 glaring holes to fill...

This one monent in time epitomises where we've got to as a club over the past two years.
It's a fucking shambles, left, right and centre, top and bottom.
But we'll one day be self-sufficient, so all is well.

I'll take 25 million to be honest. YES, he's world class on his day. But please stop panicking, he had more OFF days then ON days last season. We've got a potential world class player (Ramadan) waiting in the wings. And if we get anything in the region of 25-30 million, I'm damn sure that money will be re-invested in a replacement in some format. The flip side of it is, Stoke play hard ball, and let the twat rot in the reserves for 4 years until he changes his tune. He took us for ransom last season, then eventually signed a 4 year deal rumored to be 80k per week, didn't exactly perform to an 80k week level all season, now decides to hand a transfer request in. Over to you Hughes, Coates, and co! Sums it up this, if we can get a solid replacement in wouldn't be that arsed, plus it might act as a kick up the arse for the club to try and get the business done in the transfer market, easier said than done that though mind No panic

As horrible as this all seems, lets all look on the bright side, we've had a very decent player in marko play for us now for 4 seasons, i cant to be honest really blame him (if its true) in seeing lack of ambition in the club at the moment, look all over this forum for example! Everybody feels the same, so some of the players are bound to feel similar to us. If marko does leave us (hopefully not for west ham) we should profit out of the transfer and also the huge talent from ramadan step up to the mark, as well as maybe seeing the club sign the players we desperately need e.g BMI, fabian delph, kieren gibbs etc, Keep our head up potters, long way to go yet! and...... this could still all be a load a bollocks.

Good luck to him if he thinks he can get Champions League football in this country, the best he will get is Everton.
If he moves abroad in search of continental football then you can't slate him for that.
If he moves to West Ham serious questions need to be asked and perhaps there could be more behind his reasoning that people think if he does move to the London Stadium.
What does he expect being here? I know footballers aren't the brightest tool in the box but he must realise that the highest most realistic place we'll finish is 8th, 7th if we have a very very good season and everything falls in line.
Will he play tonight?

We are going to lose our best player then, not looking great after this news. Yes we are he's my favorite player but be consoled by the fact we have a very able replacement who's been starved of playing time, its not the end of the world.

If he wants out and someone is willing to pay £20 million + then sell him asap, we don't want him around the squad. It's hard to argue the lack of ambition line but I really don't buy that shit to be honest, if he can earn more in a sunnier climate than Sideway then fair play, I'd want out too. The lad is amazing on his day but it's just not often enough for me and I do feel it's gone a bit stale with Arnie so a move away now might suit both parties, nothing lasts forever. I just hope we would invest the cash sharpish. Agreed. Ramadan is the young bright future. Too many pantie wetters with damp inner thighs today.

Meh.
Players come and players go.
It would be disappointing, but by no means the end of the world.
For me, arnautovic was as inconsistent as the rest of the squad.
Sobhi is waiting in the wings and if he wants to play then that's much better for me.
Take the money, invest and look forwards.
Cheers for the memories arnie. Could have been a legend, certainly not now.

And to add to that, this is how we were told things were heading, buy player for cheap and sell for huge profit and like you and others have said we have a very capable replacement and one that wont sulk when the going gets tough!

The whole club is an absolute shambles. No inspiration, no ambition, no positivity at all. This could be the start of a long hard season which could well ultimately end in relegation. We've had the best part of 18 months of absolute dross to endure, the manager is clueless, and the Board are seemingly happy for the situation to continue by penny-pinching in the transfer market.
This situation has been brewing for a while and the only positive I can see is that this has happened relatively early in the window to allow some time for the "transfer team" sufficient time to "react" to find suitable improvements.
The whole place has been a disaster waiting to happen...and now it has !

If Arnie goes then I can see a few others following. He seems a strong character that quite a few of our modern bunch seem to admire.
We need to keep him in my opinion. He's the spine to our team's attack.

That Sigurdson that scored 9 goals and had 13 assists-that's why they are asking £50 million. What were Arnies stats in that respect?

I just hope West Ham are prepared to pay £25m+ or we'll be left with an unhappy, unpopular player.
I jsut can't see West Ham breaking their transfer record and paying him £100k-a-week.
I'm not saying he's not worth it - I just can't see it

We need to be all over Demarai Gray like a dog eating chips. As much as I'd love this to happen and I'd take him over Arnautovic, I can't see one of the most highly rated young wingers moving from one mid table club to another. I think Gray will stay put this season but when he does go he'll be a player for a top 6 team. If Arnautovic goes for around £25m or more how much would Gray cost? £30M+?
