All nurses and auxilliaries are doing the wriggly fingers thing as they pass me... I figure the wrigglers have arrived.... The tea and toast situation has been good for the last couple of days... despite revielle being at 5.30 today brekkie hasn't started yet. WOT! Did they 'ave a BUGLE ?????? Bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudy 'ell! How do they announce mealtimes, firing a cannon? A bugle would be acceptable this mornings wake up was a blood pressure monitor a temperature guage in the ear a blood thinning jab to the belly. Finger pulse monitor and swabs up the nose and in the groin, and a concoction of pills and things... without a bye or leave... at least on this ward it's done with some humour. ...... and ward round...

How's the snappin' Chuffed? Do you get co-ordinated tea and toast in a morning. Interestingly all the food in NStaffs Hosp comes from somewhere in Welsh Wales so presumably at least yours has a chance of being hot on arrival. ;-) Not bad for Aberystwyth, I've been read the riot act about keeping calories and nutrients up. One particular doctor is a mini Hitler but I know he means well. All the food comes from downstairs so it's a bit tepid when it gets to me though, at least it's edible!!. It's all been a bit complicated but at least I didn't die. My tip for the day is.... If you're not happy with the meal choice ask for the Cultural/International Menu. I went from a choice of fish fingers, macaroni, or turkey cottage pie! To a cornucopia of beef and black bean, rogan joshes, dhals, jerk chicken and all sorts of wonders. I'm still reeling at the notion of TURKEY COTTAGE PIE... still don't know what it is, I'm thinking of ordering it out of curiosity before I leave... Get well soon mate.

Nice one, Cheesy - in fact, fascinating. You've got nearly as wide and excellent a choice of menu as (I'm led to believe) they get in Strangeways! At a very rough guess, turkey cottage pie must be like CP but made with minced turkey instead of minced beef. I've never heard of it, but it would make sense as nearly everyone loves CP but some people won't eat beef owing to their religion or just b/c they don't eat red meat.

The Turkey CP was on the main menu, so not really an halal choice.. it just sounds so biege.. even the nurses etc whinced at the idea of turkey mince..... Just wrong. I think it's actually a violation of the idea of the humble but honourable cottage pie. Another bug bear was the lack of veg options with fish cakes..... only baked beans on offer....

By the way, if you're doing all this Oatcaking on a phone I'm hugely impressed - I'm hopelessly slow at doing text messages. We went to visit a friend a few months ago & were due to collect her at a certain time but were delayed through encountering loads of roadworks so when we were halfway there I texted her to say our ETA would be delayed by 10 mins. As I finally pressed 'send' we pulled up outside her door.......

I suppose they'd just say that the beans are good protein and high-fibre, which they are --- but some folks (me) would much prefer carrots and greeny things. Signing off a bit now, sunbeam, catch up with you later! xxx (Don't forget the ball bearings....)

Flippin 'eck, it's all gone a bit ER. Someone with power must have an alphanbet hit list. CHeees. CHuffed. Hope he'she/it dunna get round to Q. OR J/D. Or S .... my only Stan story - when I was born, Dad wanted me to be called Stanley / Stan in the great man's honour. Mum wouldn't have, said she wouldn't have a kid of hers lumbered with the name Stan in modern (1960's) times. She relented to agree to a name with just 1 letter changed from "Stan".
Cheees, I do hope the wrigglers do their trick. It's amazing what modern medicine is now returning to. I'm told the wrigglers can even stop the spread of gangrene. Didn't have them applied to my finger but I did have gangrene in it which sorted itself out after a few weeks. I've always said anything that tries to infect me doesn't know what it's in for & will come off worse than I do.
Offering baked beans to bed-bound patients? I'm sure the nurses are overjoyed at the results of that ....
You appear to be in chipper spirits at least. Can't wait to hear the results of the tv remote experiments.
Chuffed - so sorry to hear about your predicament. You're having a bloody tough time of it matey! I'll concur with everyone else & wish you a full & speedy recovery. Could be worse, you know. If you were in a South Wales hospital you might be getting lukewarm lavabread.

Fel, as you're famed for being an expert in Haute Cuisine you'll like this --- a couple of days ago I accidentally found a chap called Stavros presenting how to make a succession of Greek/Cypriot (s'prise s'prise) recipes on YouTube. Ever so sweet! Typed his name into YT again this morning & it brought up Stavros Flatley. Both subjects to be admired. Mind you, Joan could also be Jean. Or Jane. Spoiled for choice!

They were actually all a likeable bunch of characters and even Gemma Collins came out of it well despite the bad press she attracts.

How's it going Chuffed ? Any news when they're letting you out ? Release the Chuffed 1. We need 'im more than 'e needs a bed. The petition starts here. All signatures on the back of a £5 note, sent to Quietman c/o the nearest hostelry**
**Currently The Lord Gascoigne, Garforth, but by the time the post gets here, probably somewhere else. Unless Le Tour de Yorkshire, which is due past at 3.41pm, is delayed by more thunder storms and gruff Yorkshire humour.
