Wages are the key, not transfer fees. You only have to look at the league table against the amount clubs pay on wages, it's virtually a mirror image. Spurs. Younger, hungrier, fitter, faster players on much less money than the other top sides. No veterans. They have the fourth highest wage bill in the league (£125 million). So one of the very few examples of a club punching slightly higher in terms of wage and league position.

The only answer to this post is for the op to become a billionaire and drop his transfer dong into the premier league waters and watch the ripples.

Bristol City have signed Angers SCO forward Famara Diédhiou for a club record fee of £5.3m. ---- It sort of puts into perspective the way our transfers are dealt with when a club that's in the championship is willing to splash out 5.3m on a player but we as an established premier league club balk at paying that muchThis site has become a forum for people to continually air their totally garbage vitriol that they have thought about for possibly a millisecond before deciding to type? Exactly what evidence do you have that brought to you that totally fucking daft conclusion? Just needless dirt about club time and time again. Agree 100%. It's not even dirt . ....Just mindless negative drivel based on peoples inflated opinion of their all encompassing knowledge of the club and football in general. I'd like to see these nincompoops last for even a day doing the job of any one of the Stoke leadership team they are so fond of double guessing.

When you look at the squad they have and yet their net spend will be lower than ours over the last 5 years or so. Potch has put the icing on the cake with the football performance level but the club has been run in a very shrewd way for a fair while. Levy seems to know when its time to let go of a player whist they are still at their peak and secure good transfer values and let them see their career out at another club, we don't seem to have that knack at all.

They recently sold Kodjia for £11m, so they are just spending that. Who they also bought from Angers SCO, Nicolas Pepé should be the next one to leave SCO if Lille have not already done the deal

Fourth? No, sixth, surely.
Chelsea, City and United (similar)
Then Liverpool and Arsenal (similar)
Then Spurs (quite a long way back)

This board used to be entertaining. Now it's just full of fucking doom and gloom. We're an established premiership club that as just endured a frustrating season. Yet we still finished in a decent position and more importantly we kick off in August still in the premiership and a very strong club off the field. Some on here are just now pathetic

If the "managers" on here were in control of transfers we'd be down the gurgler before you know it.
Would you spend over the odds for products that you need to run your business or would you try to negotiate??
Some people ......😩😩😩

Palacios - 8m Arnie - 2.5m Kitson - 5m Whelan - 500k Arismendi - 3.5m Shawcross - 1.2m Collins - 3m Bojan - free
Cost is no indication of quality or fit into the team

We are apparently "very dissappointed" to have missed out on Harry Maguire, we missed out on Redmond didn't we because we wouldn't pay what they were asking even though he was keen to come to us? I'm sure I could find more if I went back through the past 4 years of transfer articles We missed out on Maguire who went to Leicester for £17m. We missed out on Redmond who went to Saints for £10-12M. So we were in for them they just chose to go elsewhere. No baulking involved. I'd get me Almanac out if I were you.

Yes they are a tremendous exception, Newcastle have over the last few years been an example of not getting their money's worth. However tables have been produced of transfer fees spent compared to the actual table and they have been all over the place where tables of wages spent compared to the actual table have been almost exactly the same.

It is staggering. Tone took us to the promised land with a record transfer fee paid of £1.2m for Leon Cort. Sometimes having a plan and enforcing it is just as effective as shelling out wheel barrows full of bank notes. Well said

Bristol fucking City do it and they're showing us how it's done. Genius.

Whilst checking around a bit about transfer fees we've paid and received, I came across this on the official site: ...which I thought was rather optimistic
