Yes I have seen the Foo Fighters and probably between 700 and a thousand other shows in the last 40 years if we're dick measuring.....they are like every other big band that gets inexplicably emasculated and "star struck" where the show gets watered down in some way or otherwise altered for the worse by this increasingly commercialised and politicised "establishment" gig......not saying they didn't play the songs well for the most part but it just didn't feel right.......expect DG is buzzing having finally done Glass-ton-berry - which for some odd reason has now become part of every aging rockers bucket list - as I say all a bit sad IMHO So what should they have done differently to make it work for you, rather than the 80,000 in front of the stage? Didn't need to work for me - I was just flicking around the channels and thought I'll watch the Foos cos I like em and have their albums - as Salop says below, they seem to play to the Glasto crowd which isn't "their" crowd - so maybe that's it......I'd rather bands like this kept it real for want of a better description - just an opinion tho - glad for those who thought it awesome.... I was at the Roundhouse on Tuesday to see Primus and the inimitable Les Claypool - that's my idea of "awesome" but appreciate that most wouldn't like or get it and I'd hate to see them do Glasto in its current form - each to his and her own of course.....

They were brilliant but playing a festival is different to your own gig You have to play to the entire crowd who may not be fans, not know all the music etc Easier playing your own gig because you are preaching to the converted so to speak Absolutely. I think Bob just seems a bit confused about what headlining a festival is actually all about. In fact, according to him, Glastonbury itself is just a "so called" festival. Oh come on - it's a massive orgasm of cynical commercial exploitation, horribly establishment and infested with BBC and champagne socialist patronage - long since not been a music festival.......I ain't confused fellah

Possibly the best live band in the world right now ... but then again, we've got the National tomorrow night!
My favourite band ever and best live band i've ever seen...old trafford 2008, missed the final of the euros for it (same night and had tickets but gave them up when my now ex got me Radiohead tickets as a Valentine's present) but didn't give a shit! Just watching their set now. Excellent stuff. Last saw them live at Trentham Gardens in 1997 before they were famous (sniff). And by god they were good then. Top top band and each of the older tracks have aged well.

Check out British Sea Power on the Iplayer, seen them loads of times and always put on a fantastic set.
Saw Radiohead in the 90s and they blew me away but saw them in Rock Werchter in 2007 and I was very disappointed, they played a completely self indulgent set not suited to a festival just Thom whining to the most depressing songs in their catalogue.

Phoenix on now on iPlayer are absolutely storming it. Brilliant sound and unbelievably tight. Set of the day though goes to Anderson Paak and the Free Nationals. Awesome performance, had the crowd in the palm of his hand which isn't easy when the majority of them didn't know the tunes. Anderson .Paak is incredible. Can play virtually every instrument himself as well if he wanted to ! Remember hearing about him a couple of years ago when Dr Dre plucked him out of nowhere and decided to put him on his last record. Malibu is a great album by .Paak.. Big fan of Phoenix as well but haven't seen them yet.

Toss. Father John Misty is worth a look. I listened to the first three tracks last night. Sounded more like a dialogue.

With respect, you just sound like a bit of a snob Bob. Probably I am mate if that means liking bands / artists to deliver for the sheer passion they have for their music and not how big the crowd are or feeling they have to compromise, alter their MO or play up for the Cameras etc etc (and I am not saying FF did all of these things - it just seemed somewhat affected to me) the Primus example was just to show that what once would have been a great fit for the Glasto of yore (did they ever play I wonder?) would not fit the profile these days - and yes the "snob" in me would not approve ! I was the same about Metallica - I'm a massive fan but their set was so weird and Hetfields dialogue so cheesy and that backline of fan club members just embarrassing I watched through my fingers at times. In recent times I can think only of Motörhead who delivered an amazing "fuck you" set despite Lemmy getting his songs mixed up towards the end God bless him! That all said, I totally get why bands / artists do it and why those that go to this largely social "to be seen at" event like it ......

Giving the fans what they want instead of last nights pretentious shite. Don't think that's fair at all mate ... Radiohead did what Radiohead do, stunningly well last night (just check out the forums) and Foo Fighters are doing exactly the same tonight. No doubt Ed Sheeran will do the same tomorrow night, even if I/you don't get him/(or even)them. my daughter saw Ed on Thursday night at the O2 dome, he said to the crowd that he was using the show as a trial for his glastonbury set

MGMT and Bat for Lashes supporting in glorious sunshine then the boys came on as the sun was going down. Cracking day. Never seen anyone to top them live before or since MarLadys a massive fan & subsequently I've ended up seeing them more times than any other band. Stayed up with her on Friday, way past my bedtime to watch with her & ended up drinking far too much wine 🍷

Royal Blood were on form yesterday and I'd expect them to headline in an couple of years time? Foos are kicking ass tonight awesome performance 🤘🏻 Royal Blood are a weird one for me. Good tunes, smash it live but.. I just don't love them. Like, I never find myself in a "I'm gonna listen to them" mood like I get with other artists. Still, I think you may be right after album 3/4. I loved their debut album and was lucky to see them at Rock City in Nottingham, one of the best venues I've been to. It's everyone's personal taste, they remind me of Muse who are also amazing live. I'm the same with Oasis or the Artic Monkeys, I don't see the attraction. I thought Liam was shocking yesterday and seemed to struggle with his vocals? Clearly the chemicals in his blood stream were flowing...

Like, I love the artics and basically anything Alex Turner does but it doesn't bother me if I'm the only one and I do like Royal Blood, I just don't connect with them.. as for Liam, he said he was totally sober and behaving himself these days in an interview after.. If he says so

Trying to decide whether to watch Barry Gibb or Frank Turner, leaning towards Barry Gibb but I've got a feeling I'll probably end up regretting it.
Thought the same about Lionel Ritchie in the same slot a couple of years ago though and he turned in a brilliant performance.
Gibb it is ... for now.

Jarvis Cocker just played a track from Mark Lanegan Band from the Park Stage friday, sounded great. Keep hearing good things about Blossoms {mate saw them supporting Stone Roses at Wembley}.
