Yup. The more pertinent question is why was it seemingly Delph or no one?

Yup. The more pertinent question is why was it seemingly Delph or no one? Some good young English players moving this window...Sam clucas, harry Maguire. Match fit, improving every game and better than delph already.

It's official, Delph can go fuck himself*
*unless he rocks up in January, then he's a good lad.

Yup. The more pertinent question is why was it seemingly Delph or no one? Bang on there bayern. We really should know better than putting all our eggs in one basket. I won't mention the Pole that ole VT snapped up who would have been perfect for us (oops), but there were surely other targets we could have looked at when it was clear he was messing us about several weeks ago.

No matter who the player, the game is more physically and mentally demanding ( concentration wise) than ever. So why go round, trying to sign players who have been Sat on the arse for the last two years?

We've been burned big style by Man City twice now, I would be happy if we never signed a player from them again!

Never saw the attraction for Delph even in his Villa days. Glad this hasn't happened, just hope we progress so much that we are looking for better come Jan and Delph wants to come to us, only for us to string him out and finally saying we've moved on from him.

Spot on Jezza we've left ourselves very short of genuine midfielders (like Wingbacks). Just hope Afellay recovers well as for me he could do a really good job with 3 CMs behind him. I certainly hope that Fletchers knee injury is only minor or the decision not to get in a short term replacement is even more of a mystery.

How do you know, that jezza knows, that Bayern knows that there wasn't a plan B and a plan C and things fell through? before posting things like this then tell us the facts please, give us the lists, the details of the transfer meetings at the club, the agents we turned away, etc. etc etc. You all can't can you, but it's OK to jump on the negativity and bash the club again without facts isn't it?

We were seemingly ready to chuck £18m at Lemina a fortnight ago as well. The apparent Krychowiak non-interest is a complete head-scratcher. www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/stoke-city/11691797/Stoke-want-20m-rated-Grzegorz-Krychowiak-in-exchange-for-Steven-Nzonzi.htmlWe were "interested" when it was a retaliatory, out-of-reach joke, but not when it mattered. All very odd.

Yup. The more pertinent question is why was it seemingly Delph or no one? [/quo My theory on this, and I have no foundation is that Johnny Evans was going to Man C. Delph coming to us and Ryan being shipped out to W.B.A. As on the final day when we knew for definate Delph was not coming Ryan walks into training and puts pen to paper and at the same time Johnny Evans heads to the airport to go to Malta to meet up with the Northern Ireland squad seems interest was lost all round at the same time ?,

Did the recruitment team take their eye of this one? WBA seemed to move very quickly to wrap the loan deal up.

Reading between the lines I think there is a simple answer. Delph wanted paying up for his lucrative contract remaining at Man City - if they had paid him off the deal was on. If they didnt then it was a loan or I am going nowhere. Clearly we could / would not negotiate the loan and City did not want to pay up his contract.
Some will accuse Delph of mercenary tactics but ALL footballers are driven by money and this is the living he is making - you cannot blame him for not chucking away a substantial amount of cash.
Unless something changes in the meantime I expect this to be re-visited in Jan.

Still for me very strange to have 5 c/backs when we are short on cover in at least 2 other departments.

Wasn't a bad window at all but regardless of the saga we needed a CM to cover at the least and we didn't get one. Whoever we were after we didn't get and with the money behind us it shouldn't have been a problem to have got a decent CM in should we lose Allen or Fletcher. I'm not bashing either we had a decent window with some brilliant defensive business but we did overlook a couple of position which could come back to bite us.

Players like walters are worth 10 of delph, he will always be rich unless stupid with his money, he won't always be able to play football. I would question weather he would give 100% for anyone if he were to go to a lesser team, if he doesn't want to try and get into the world cup squad now then where is his drive?

One of his criteria is where teams are in the league not confident he will fancy us in January on that basis .

This lad's boat sailed quite some time ago. The world moves on and there are plenty of up and coming young players that actually want to play football each week. Why should it be our responsibility to pay the money and spend the time trying to get him match fit. I'm quite happy that this didn't work out. And if he's pissed us about I'd be more than happy for us to "Scott Carson" him when he comes crawling back in January.
