Genuine question. When I was young and idealistic I voted for Michael Foot. From memory quite a lot of his policies were similar to Jezza's, and Foot got trounced. Will Corbyn suffer the same fate, and if not, why not?

He's more electable than Theresa May. What do you put that down to, though? Surely May isn't as hated as Thatcher?

I think Abbott will lose him many votes.
She must has some terrible pictures of him to be appointed.
She's that much of a liability, he needs to make an election promise statement now that she will be removed immediately, should he win.

I think Abbott will lose him many votes. She must has some terrible pictures of him to be appointed. She is an absolute fool. She makes a complete twat of herself every time she appears in public. How anyone can justify voting Labour when she is a key player for them is beyond me.

Foot died in 2010, I'd say he still has more chance of being PM than Jezza.

Michael Foot came at a time when Britain didn't need any form of socialism, on the back of what happened in the late 70s.
I believe the country needs a left-leaning government now, with the impending divorce from the E.U. Serious investment into our infrastructure and people.
For me, that's where the majority of people go wrong in politics. We seem to think that whoever wins, that's it, we've got them forever.
I'm Corbyn's biggest fan but I'm not daft enough to think we need somebody of his ilk for the rest of my life.

The fact his own personal ratings have gone up (from a very low base granted) suggests the expectation that the british public would hate him even more when they saw more of him hasn't happened.

Labour lost the plot when they elected the wrong Milliband. Can't see Corbyn getting anywhere near Downing St but I hope May gets a much reduced majority as in my opinion she's as much as a right wing knobhead as Thatcher

Michael Foot had an intellect and a body of political writing and thought behind him that make you look the callous and intellectual pygmy you have been acting like these past few days.

IMO Foot and Corbyn are not comparable. As pointed out, Foot was an experienced conviction politician with an intellectual hinterland and historical body of political theory to dwarf most modern politicians.
As to the election result, the earlier froth about a 3 digit Tory majority was always bollocks. I'll go with the Tories to make a few gains in Scotland and a Tory majority around 35-40. Many fewer than that and May's leadership will should be challenged. Percentages Labour 37% Tory 42% (ish). Borderline for Corbyn but my bet is that he will stay on.
I've found these wiki 10 week poll of poll graphs to be informative so far this year - BUT the European elections have all been proportional representation mind.

Corbyn or may for Prime minister?
It's a bit like deciding to support Hartlepool or Leyton Orient for the next 5 years.
