They are nowhere near being rivals. Baggies, Manure, the Arse etc fair game. Their supporters are from this City, we potters have always stuck by one another, there are enough outsiders who put usdown without infighting. Nowhere near being rivals? Geography would suggest otherwise. They are our local rivals, is that something you dispute? My best mate is a Vale fan, I was once in a band with 3 Vale fans, i mean how unlucky can you get? In fact numerous musical combos I’ve been in have had at least 1 Vale fan in them. No wonder they all split up. In the course of my life I’ve been very good friends with as many Vale fans as Stoke fans. The Vale fans all dislike Stoke and want them to fail, to varying degrees and guess what? The Stoke fans all dislike Vale and want them to fail. Why? It's a local footballing rivalry; it's not unhealthy until you start assaulting each other. To make out like it's some sort of sin to curse the other club is absurd. Is it cold up there on that high horse? To also throw some fabricated blanket over it and say "they don't care about us" is absolute nonsense. If you genuinely think that the majority of Port Vale fans are totally disinterested in the welfare of Stoke City and vice-versa then you need your head checking. I doubt any fan (of a certain era perhaps) honestly has no interest whatsoever in their rivals. I'll also add that i have members of my family who are from that bygone era of going to Stoke one week, Vale the next. They are/were all Stoke fans and guess what? They all wanted Vale to lose when they saw them because.... they're Stoke City supporters and it's the Potteries rivalry! The day rivalries cease to exist in football is the day football is officially dead. Fortunately that day is not going to arrive so that's alright then isn’t it. Well put sir, but wasted on some!

Its important tonight for walsall to win.
But it doesn't stop there. If I was coates I would be making short term loans to teams playing against vale next season.
It's time to kick vale out of football

Wonder if man u, arsenal fans realise we are rivals, for me its Vale, Wolves, WBA, Birmingham and Derby mainly Only one of which we play against. Hard to be a rival to the others

Rivals would imply we play against each other as we once did. No problem with winding each other up, my cousin was Captain of the Vale, my mother's cousin Tommy Cheadle. Been an ardent Stoke supporter since 1958 and wouldn't support anyone else. But that does not mean I would wish harm to other people from this City. Friendly rivalry and banter yes but some of the bile spouted on here is over the top.

It's time to kick vale out of football Well said. We can loan Imbula & Berahino out to teams playing against Vale next season... Or to do even more damage...we could get Vale to sign them. ???

What are you on? this is football rivalry, this happens fella or maybe not in your perfect world. Yeah, big rivals that league 1/ 2 club. We haven't been rivals for going on 20 years and probably won't be ever again, least not in our lifetime. According to many vale fans at the start of this season we were going to be playing each other next season. Fuckwits.

When they were flying high at the start of the season and we had our usual poor start they were jumping all over it saying we would be playing each other. Well fuck em. Rot you Vale scum

We'd laugh them off.

or us claiming to be rivals of the Vale? We work with them, drink with them and live in the same city as them Of course they are our rivals but hopefully friendly rivals, not playing rivals (since 2002)and not people we revile. When the Butler Street Stand blew down they let us use their ground. Some of the comments on here are way beyond rival banter

Believe me that doesn't work both ways, those dirty inbred unwashed fookers hate everything scfc and would celebrate till the cows come home if we were relegated! They detest US! No they don't. In fact I think most are past caring, I'd suggest our fans do the same. Go look at their board and tell if you can find anything on there talking about Stoke recently, whereas here- it's every fucking week. I have a few family members that are Vale fans, as intelligent football fans as you're likely to meet and would you know it- bare no Ill towards Stoke. I'd wager that 99% of the idiots on here wouldn't fucking dare to say the spiteful shite they post on here to a Vale fans face. It really is quite sad. Save your bile for the cunts that have revolving wardrobes on United, Chelsea and Liverpool shirts like some of the dregs that inhabit this city. Yes I was around in the 90's. Speaks volumes of the people that can't get over things that happened 20 years ago. Fuck em, hope they go out of business....Ooo and by the way I've said it to loads em,

Family split, so no such sympathies for me towards the Vale. Hope they get rammed, still never forget my uncle telling me that Stoke would never play in top flight again when they were above us....

Mate of mine is a life long Vale fan and, over 50 years ago, we used to go both Stoke and Vale alternate weeks. We could afford it as we were both paper boys and it cost 1/3d to get in Vale and 2/6d to watch Stoke. We would walk to both grounds from Wolstanton stopping for a pie in Middleport or me grandmas house in Shelton for chips. I just can't hate Vale and can only wish them good luck in getting back to league 1. All this bollox about Stokies having to hate Vale is just that....a load of bollox. Life's too short and if Vale fans hate Stokies that's their misfortune.

I have no ill feeling towards Port Vale . I dont care what they do as i dont support them. I dont think all the chants for the Vale are necessary. It isnt like we will be playing them any time soon.i wouldnt like to see them relegated because they are a local team
