Won a lot with him didn't we. He is one of the most respected England players of his generation. He might not have been sergio ramos but his attitude and application was faultless How many times has it been proven that being a good player ( which he clearly was) translates into being a good manager ( which he clearly isn't). Why does it mean therefore that his comments are any more valid than anyone else's? He is no different than anyone else.

Today was the first time I've felt concerned a bit but I am putting it to the back of my mind and hoping he will be sharper and back to his old self next season.
As for butcher, he is talking shit. One aspect of berahinos game that worked well today was coming short. His hold up play was excellent and he linked well in the build up. One time a ball was fired in to him at neck height and he took it down, held off a defender and laid it off well.
The problem we have is our full backs and wingers are wank at putting good balls into the box. No one ever knows when shaqiri is going to cross because he delays and delays, so the striker cannot make a timed run and jump. Only joe allen put a good ball in, and saido was in the right spot but taken by surprise

Cascarino was on about him on Talksport this morning saying quite rightly that he is still nowhere near fit enough and carrying too much weight , that he needs a really big summer to get his fitness to the standard needed, Worry is if Hughes is still here will he ? None of the others do in pre-season
He has been poor for us , people naturally want him to do well of course but there is no sign of it . SJW did more in his time on the pitch as sub last week than Berahino has since he has been here .
I'd say there is talent there but his career is on the line if he does not sort himself out soon

Berahino was a wank signing for a January transfer window signing. Smacked of desperation of Hughes and is getting more desperate with every game that goes by. Chased him for 18 months

Chased him for 18 months He chased Diouff for about that long didn't he? Look how that turned out. He won't even play him in his proper position anymore. Hughes' record with striķers with us is getting more baffling by the day.

Berahino was awful today.
Hughes should pick the side on form and that means no more Saido till next year.
Diouf would be my pick to see out the season.

Whether or not Berahino will regain the ability he had when he played for England under 23s, no-one can know. However, it has been clear that persisting with him in such poor form is doing him, and the team, no good at all. More poor management.

Drop him and his confidence is shot. Continue to play him .....and his confidence will be shot if things carry on like they are. It's a mess. He should have been playing reserve football until he was back up to speed.

Saido was rancid today, shocking. The bigger question is this - why are so many Stoke supporters desperate for him to fail? I'm desperate for him to succeed I believe there is great potential in him I was prepared to concede that he needs time to get back his shape, form and confidence I was happy with his performance last week But my God those 2 misses from very close range today gave me the jitters Could it be possible that he is a diouf replica ? We're used to seeing diouf miss those sitters

Is this the same Terry Butcher who got sacked by Brentford after half a season, Took Hibs all the way from the security of the SPL mid-table to relegation and only lasted a dozen games at Newport County leaving them bottom of League 2? Great Player, but I fear his knowledge of football (defending aside) is patchy at best.

I said I didn't think he was the right player for us when we were trying to sign him. I've seen nothing so far to suggest that opinion is wrong.
I understand he hasn't played for a while and it takes time to get that fitness and sharpness back. But that aside, I don't see what attributes he has which will enable him to lead the line for us effectively.
Fitness aside, he should be doing much better with both those chances today. I'd back Crouch, Diouf and even Walters to score one, if not both of those opportunities.
It looks like it's going to be another expensive player that Hughes is going to struggle to get the best out of.

I refer you to Butcher's record as a manager. Couldn't spot a player if he bit him on the arse.... You do know he played the game and he was an immense defender?

What a load of wank. Someone criticises a stoke player and we character assassinate him. If he'd bogged up Saudi would all the retard experts on here slagged him off? It's a MB for half wits - if that!!
