The M6 closure yesterday caused havoc throughout the Potteries. The bird put up on the radio to discuss the full motorway closure north and south between 15 and 16 was, I believe, one of the cleaners. Apparently there was a planned overnight closure (no problem) for bridge repairs. Whilst there they found some facia boards which served no purpose but were no danger to the motorway and decided to remove them and cause the complete closure of the M6 on a Friday.
Today they've closed the A500 between junction 16 and the Talke exit with virtually no warning. There was an extremely pissed off councillor from Talke on local radio earlier saying that all the local councillors had been receiving calls asking why no warning was given. He'd had a communication two days earlier.
Think they need a new communications manager and a bit of training for the overnight team on common sense.

Can you imagine the compensation claim of something happened though?
It's today's society and blame culture that needs to be considered and reviewed.

I think it comes down to budget cuts and lack of / or maintenance on the infrastructure. Look at the Talke roundabout closures. How long have those bridges been carrying the A34 over the 500? 40-50 years old, and only recently they had to do major work on strengthening them. This could have been done intermittently every 10 years or so. Rather than letting them get in such a state that they need to be done as urgent. It's wank being a driver in 2017

In Plymouth all three arterial roads into Plymouth have major road works on them. It's a commuter nightmare and just one minor incident can create gridlock across the city.

got caught with the a500 closure last night going down to the hospital, is it resurfacing works? Yes. Very obviously planned and very little notice of this happening.

The spokeswoman was adamant that the facia panels were secure and no danger to the motorway. They could have been left in place and taken off overnight at a later date.

Yes, but what if something did happen? There was a freak indigent ad they knew about the problems before - the claim would be astronomical

These panels didnt suddenly become unstable overnight. They would have been in the same condition weeks before. Years ago they always put a planned diversion into operation before the work started so as to minimize disruption. I suppose you can also factor in the need to spend the budget before the next handout comes in after the financial year ends. And dont get me started on the crew that turns up, puts out barriers and temporary lights then fuck off for 3 weeks before coming back and starting work.

The road network around here is a fucking joke, routinely now it takes an hour to do a 20 minute journey thanks to the absolutely shit infrastructure.
The other week it took me one hour and twenty minutes to get from Newcastle to Fenton, that's almost an entire footy match to get from 'Castle to pissing Fenton, pathetic.

You're obviously the guy in charge of arranging the schedules for this kind of thing as you seem to think 80 minutes is long enough for a full match plus extra time. Well edited! !

Wembury is bang on the coast and about 7 miles from Plymouth. Coming inland a bit then Plymstock, and Elburton are bit cheaper. Top price areas are Heybrook Bay, Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo. A379 corridor into the South Hams towards Kingsbridge has some lovely villages and you're never too far from the coast. Into Cornwall there's Looe, Cawsands, Kingsands all within easy commuting distance to Plymouth. Good luck mate please ask if you want any more info.

That would be a good idea part from the fact that every Audi driver and truck driver don't want you to get past and will block every oppertunity to get past them1
