I know, I know it's Walters again but I found this and thought it gives an interesting perspective, especially considering the "issues" between Keane and Jon previously. He isolates Jon Waters as one player he knows will show up, as proved when the Stoke player played through injury at Euro 2016. “Jon is a big player for us, a big personality. I was down at Stoke the previous weekend and he was sub, but he did more in the warm-up than some players did when the game was on. He’s a great attitude and a fitness freak. “Jon hasn’t played much football but I wouldn’t lose a wink of sleep about Jon turning up and not having played for a few months. You know for that week with Ireland, he’s different class. You want people like Jon in the trenches with you.” "I read the Oatcake website regularly and it's surprising how many dopes there are who don't recognise what a great player he is. Having said that there are also some very clever posters who demonstrate great footballing knowledge. Like that Foxysgloves. He knows his shit. Very funny too. And apparently a bit of a looker." www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/sport/roy-keane-gareth-bale-is-set-for-a-hard-night-in-dublin-781156.html

About right tbh.

I think in football knowing what a player will give counts for bit more than we fans realise. Unpredictable players can do some wonderful things but when they are bad they cost the team .

So nothing about football but lots about running and war. About right tbh. Errrrr.... apart from the fact that Roy Keane is an INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL coach and Walters an INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL player.

Keane can read?
I'm surprised he doesn't pick a fight with the book and end up launching it into the bin.

Like I said, it's about right. I was agreeing!

I go to football to be entertained, if i wanted watch someone run a lot id go watch athletics. If Shaq was fit all the time, with his ability he wouldn't be at stoke that's sure.

Walters v Shaqiri - the debate is pointless.
Successful teams (and not just sports teams, work teams as well) need to comprise of a mix of talents, character, skills, attitudes, etc. Invariably a team of clones are not successful.

That's an excellent point. But I'd take a dressing room full of SJWs before i took one full of Shaqs. Not that you could fit all those oversized quads in any dressing room ever built.

I just realised that given my obvious SJW obsession "taking" a dressing room full of SJWs could be misconstrued by some of the deviants on here. So to clarify, he'd be taking me.

When the chips are down and you're in the trenches, players I'd want with me are
Walters Whelan Cameron Delap Huth Mama Shawcross Allen
None the most talented in our squads but you know they'll turn up for the metaphorical wet Tuesday night in Wigan
Can the same be said of Arnie, Shaqiri etc Great (World class) on their day, but how many days in a season?
A balanced team needs both though.
If Arnie was as good as he can be, every week, he wouldn't be anywhere near Stoke

He works his bollocks off.
