Jam is up there with Morris' best work - it's utterly bonkers. Brasseye is played really straight and the celebs they duped back then just bought in to most of the stuff - there were of course those savvy enough to avoid being duped which obviously didn't make the final cut. Jam is very different TV - arguably the last properly edgy stuff channel 4 produced before becoming a sort of mild alternative channel. There is some truly disturbing stuff in the episodes, the dead baby/boiler repair man sketch being amongst those very close the edge. Its was also quite disturbing to watch broadcast as it was done so without adverts in a single chunk with a ambient soundtrack which dragged you through each episode.

Chris Morris directed some episodes of Big Train. I've always considered it Jam-lite. There's definitely some Big Train sketches that have a nod to Jam, such as the woman dating the temporary traffic lights.

Last night worked. Just the right side of being too clever for their own good. I genuinely switched over at one point thinking it really had gone off air.

Last night worked. Just the right side of being too clever for their own good. I genuinely switched over at one point thinking it really had gone off air. After posting the alert for everyone.......... I forgot all about it! I know, I know......... Caught up with it later, on ...... whaddayacallit..... I player? But had to turn it off at the point where Stephanie Cole was sitting on the sofa, saying 'they're coming..... they don't want us to be here - they're coming - they're coming.........' because it was really spooking me out! So after all that I don't know what happened!

'Inside Number 9' - BBC 4 tonight, at 10.45 & 11.15. Just popping in for a mo to say that I've just noticed there are 2 eps on tonight.
Really looking fwd to seeing the first one (which usually means it will turn out to be rubbish.....) as the write-up says: 'An understudy in Macbeth dreams of taking over.' And I didn't like the Macbeth one - one of the dark ones. Bit macabre.
