Interesting that it's Bercow who has spoken up to say that he opposes Trump addressing the Houses of Parliament because "opposition to racism and sexism" are "hugely important considerations". Seems to be widely backed by the MP's as well. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-38884604

No the opposition to trumps visit was supported by the three lame ducks, are you deliberately trying to come across as thick as a whale omelette or is it natural.

He should be neutral and keep his opinions to himself. why didnt he speak up against china, saudia arabia etc. just jumping on the bandwagon The reason is that those foreign guests did not receive the level of House of Commons hospitality that Trump was going to receive! So, the only person jumping on the bandwagon is your good self!

But what kind of Parliament would he be visiting if the speaker resorts to fashionable and self-righteous indignation at an imaginary villain (whose country helped saved our ass)?

No, the two world wars alone don't justify the visit! In fact, the two American presidents who fought those wars were liberal, Democrat presidents! He's not an "imaginary villain". He's a proven serial lying, sexual predator who is undermining the American constitution!

That is the most ludicrous and shameful comment I have heard for a long time, obviously designed to be confrontational at the basest level. Tell me just how exactly it is "unconstitutional" to impose a 90 day temporary restriction on visitors from 7 countries while the United States immigration policy is being revised? Trump is delivering on his election promises to the American people - and that must be a first for any politician anywhere! As for Bercow, he should remain neutral at all times. He should apologise unreservedly to parliament for bringing his position into question.

And Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt were indeed liberal Democrats! Mr Bercow has no reason to apologise for anything! It's long overdue that people, such as Bercow, stopped cowering and stood up to this appalling man!

Democratically-elected British politician uses power given to him by other democratically-elected British politicians to make a decision. This is an outrage. It is. He is not there to express an opinion, he is there to chair the proceedings of the house. the "power" of which you speak wasn't given to him by other democratically-elected British politicians. If anything, it was removed from him when they elected him Speaker of the House. He is supposed to, in fact expected to, remain neutral not siding or leaning left, right, green, jock or anything else.

If he's not supposed to have an opinion, why is he one of three people who is tasked with deciding if an overseas leader can speak in parliament? It's literally his (and two other unelected people's) job to decide whether Trump can speak in parliament.

To be a bit more accurate: Democratically-elected American president uses power given to him by the people to make a possibly illegal and unconstitutional (we'll know in a few hours) decision to protect American borders and American citizens. This is an outrage.

As for the yanks, they're not the champions of the free world, like they say they are...

But the Americans took advantage of our problems with Napoleon Bonaparte to try and invade and take over British Canada 1812-14. But, why let the facts get in the way?
