Wouldn't Stoke have insurance to cover long-term injuries to players that would kick in if the England policy didn't cover it?

Jack is young, they have now got to the bottom of the problem and he will surely be back good as new come August. I am not sure I would risk him this season - Grant is solid cover, we have little of any real consequence to play for and I'd rather he make sure he is fully recovered so that, when he returns to action, it is for good.

Another one staying away from Stoke for his rehab then.

Another one staying away from Stoke for his rehab then. That's what I thought, till I read the article, he is at some FIFA approved rehab clinic that many top players have visited in the past to help with their comeback. I would imagine after a lengthy lay off like this there are some issues other than physical ones to overcome, regaining confidence for a start, look at Peter Czech, he still wears that head guard, even though it is totally unnecessary, but it gives him confidence. I wonder how difficult it will be for Jack leaping for the first high ball that comes in, knowing he has no choice other than to land on his injured ankle, and I am pretty sure this rehab clinic is more of a psychological one rather than physical one.

Judging by his Instagram stories, he's been doing a lot of physical work. There have been videos of him lying on a bed with one of the doctors/physios pushing, pulling and twisting his ankle. Considering Butland wasn't flinching, it looks like he's well on track to make a full recovery. He also said the facility is very high above sea level so I presume it'll help improve his fitness more quickly than if he was stuck in Stoke.

Grant doesn't deserve to be dropped this season. No need to get Butland back in but would be nice to have him on the bench. Then it's all up for grabs in pre season.

Going anywhere and doing anything to get him fit ASAP, and helping him stay fit, is paramount with Jack. Grant is good, but not Jack good!

Granty has done fine this season, but your right he is not Jacko level, I do think we would be 4 or 5 goals better off if Jack had played all season, that's not a criticism of Granty.

If it's in Doha I doubt if it's more than 30 foot above sea level!

Interesting, if it is in Qatar then they must simulate the high altitude by controlling the air pressure.

Interesting, if it is in Qatar then they must simulate the high altitude by controlling the air pressure. Yes, it isn't that uncommon to work on fitness in a low pressure chamber. Long distance runners need proper training at altitude to avoid getting bored given the distances they cover but other athletes can do fine for shorter periods in a low pressure chamber.

There is a lot of nonsense on this thread. Craig Gordon was out for about three years and came back for Celtic just as good as before That was hardly very much of a challenge !
