www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38636082I was hoping this was going to rid English football of mercenary players who have stunted the progress of young English players I am not patriotic at all, but I would like to see more local players have the opportunity to develop their game in their more local communities

Perhaps China will start doing better in international tournaments and finally sonmeone will realize that if you put a local quota (and more impressively a youth quota) in place it may help youngsters develop. ....... Oh wait ....

For most of history most players in the English leagues have been English but few have ever been able to compete with the world's best. Quotas would change very little in that respect.

Thought we couldn't do this due to the opening of boarders and the free movement of workers so if we did the 3 player rule we would of been breaking laws although not any more soon after bexit.
Pretty sure though the Italians have an unwritten rule where they have to play so many home nationals in a game.

It's unlimited EU players but 3 non-EU players in the squad.

But its good timing for Chinese football in the long run. Having looked into it a bit more, I think they have given the 2 spots they had for Non-Chinese, to "Other Asians". A few clubs seem to have taken on 2-3 Australians which count as "Asian". People like Ezekiel Lavezzi and Demba Ba (injured) and Fredy Montero are now appearing in their team's reserves. I saw Swansea are linked with a loan move for Kakuta, which might be worth pursuing? Fredy Guarin perhaps available?

They already have a 4+1 rule. 4 min Chinese players plus one Asian. They're just reducing it. They're also looking at a rule where instead of goal difference determining a league position it would go off goals scored by Chinese players.
