link that worksI won't comment on the Zaha penalty appeal as I haven't seen it yet. I do agree with Allardyce though that mascots should not get involved in criticism of opposition players. It sets a poor precedent and sooner or later it will lead to trouble by inciting a fan to do something which will get him or her a ban.

Maybe - but referees DO get things wrong on occasion! Supposing TV replays showed that Clattenberg's decision was a terrible one? The mascot would then have wound up an opposition player IN FRONT OF THE OPPOSITION FANS for something he didn't do. If a pitch invasion had been the result - do you think the mascot would have escaped punishment? I don't. Mascots are in a privileged position - they are not playing or coaching staff but (unlike fans) they are allowed on the pitch to do a job. That job is to add to the atmosphere and gee up the home fans - they are not there to wind up opposition players or opposition fans. I hope clubs are reminded that their mascots should not overstep the mark.

Didn't Allardyce play up to the camera laughing at Chico Flores for play acting ?. If memory is correct the oracles on MOTD focussed on this and praised Allardyce for his approach to the issue. The mascot has only repeated this process highlighting something supporters have criticised but as normal football has decided to ignore. I suppose it is easier to shift the focus onto someone dressed as an insect rather than the real issue which is that a lot of fans without whom the game would not be marketable do not like to see footballers in the peak of fitness fall to the floor as though they have been shot in the head for little or no reason and then see a medical miracle occur as they recover from their near death experience as soon as the referee gives the decision they seek usually within 5 seconds.

I agree - although I haven't seen the Zaha penalty/dive yet, I HAVE seen the mascot's dive and it WAS funny. However, if the Palace fans had invaded the pitch and attacked the mascot it might have been remembered for all the wrong reasons. So, I would not throw the book at the mascot but I would hope the FA will remind clubs of the potential for trouble if/when it happens again.

Hilarious. BFFS is an odious man, if you were watching immediately after the incident he is swearing at Clattenberg on the touch line giving it big ones. Quite how he can judge the decision unbeknown. Then he has the gall to criticise the mascot. Really hope (but they won't) get relegated and he gets the sack. Anyone who has that other lying odious person Lee as his sidekick, God what a pair.

Everything about this incident is brilliantly funny, the mascot dive was closely followed by the reaction from Zaha and Alladyce.

In playing by the book you are correct, but this is not some one that dives on the odd occasion he is a serial diver. We have seen at first hand when he's played against us.If it now makes him think about what he's doing is wrong from now on it's good. When he does play now you do not see Ashley Young driving like he did beforehand once it was drought to light.Oh plus the Hornets drive was very funny as was Zaha reaction.

Wilfred Zaha is a renowned cheat and diver - something the media now conveniently chooses to ignore,
and yesterday he chose to maximise the slightest 'contact' to try and win an advantage
(in this case - another penalty)
As is the case for that other popularist cheat and diver - Deli Ali (scumbag) At Spurs
And so, anything repeat ANYTHING, that brings exposure, embarressment and ridicule to such cheating scum
is OK by me
(Im just surprised this type of piss - taking does not happen more often)
And So, to justify - or even, try to defend such awful sport eroding antics ( i.e. 'simulation' = CHEATING)
is, incomprehensible as far as Im concerned.
Such scum therefore- ( no other word) fully deserve anything, that exposes them for what they are.
(whats even more galling is that, they are both very talented football players who have no need to even do it anyways)
