There is 1 more which no one seems to have twigged onto. Derby County of course, there's definitely a Derby there I know I've been there. Gouranga. even though they are a bunch of wankers, they cant 'have' themselves

Selhurst Park falls within the London borough, but not the City perimeter. Croydon is a town, not a city

You could argue though that Liverpool and Tranmere at 6 miles being in Birkenhead and, er, Liverpool. Although certainly not liverpools main derby...probably not even their 2nd derby either.

Kingston-upon-Hull, I believe. But that might mean Stoke City aren't from Stoke. And there'd be no such place as the Potteries or Neck End. So let's call it Hull to avoid offending Neck Enders

It's just a quirk, stop overthinking. If someone asked me what part of Stoke I live in I'd say Stoke. If someone else with no knowledge of Stoke-On-Trent overheard they'd think I'm retarded. They'd be right of course but a broken clock is right twice a day.

Selhurst Park falls within the London borough, but not the City perimeter. Croydon is a borough like N-u-L used to be so it isn't a city. How can it be the biggest city not to have a football club if it isn't a city to start with?

Its about 8 miles from Blackpool to Fleetwood. A lot of people are including non league clubs, in which case Blackpool v AFC Fylde would be another same town derby. Also Man U v Salford

Hence why I said selhurst park falls within the borough but is actually outside of the city limits.

Croydon applied for city status a couple of years ago and was turned down by Her Maj. I live ca. 1 1/2 miles from its boundary! I should know!

Which football team do not play in the town they are named after? I can think of one which used to have its town name incorporated into its club name but it dropped it when it played temporarily in a neighbouring town which later had the good sense to build a shopping centre there!

Only 4 cities or towns can have a local derby that involves at least one top flight club - London, Manchester, Liverpool and STOKE : now that's punching above your weight #footballing capitals!

Strictly speaking Nottingham Forest are in Rushcliffe and not Nottingham. Strange people the Notts folk; the city ground is outside the city limits whereas the county ground are within the city.
