I've been sampling a lot of those vegetable crisps recently - you know the sort, thinly sliced beetroots, courgettes, parsnips, chonnocks etc rather than spuds - but I've yet to find a brand that really floats my boat, even at the proper money end of the market. Any suggestions?

Piper's Co Jalapeño and Dill crisps are my current fancy. Perfect little kick to them. Sounds interesting, where from.

Haven't tried them myself, sorry, Leedsy, but I remember others in the gang posting on this very thread (well I think it was this one!) some months ago that they had tried vegetable crisps but didn't rate them. A pity really, as in theory they're a great idea.

Whilst the sour cream & chive dip will elevate any crisp or savoury snack {even celery} to another snackosphere on this occasion it's not so much the accompaniment that makes the snack, McCoy's Muchos smoky chilli chicken {flavour} folded crispy tortilla snacks are the dogs. With or without. Topping the SS19 chart thus far. DOH I quoted the wrong one - I meant this one! Just bought some of these as per your recommendation.... plus the Cheese ones...... etc etc!!! Right, tried them both now, and of the two I prefer the Cheese Nachos. I thought the ones highlighted above seemed to have an overpowering aftertaste of chilli and nothing else. Have to say, though, that on balance I still prefer good old Salt & Vinegar crisps / salted cashews.

Yes to pumpkin seeds, they feature in the Omega mix. I've gone seed mad... breakfast, in rice etc, yoghurts/sweets/fruit salads... baking.I knew there was a reason I liked Frangelico. I always avoided them sugared almonds in elderly relatives confectionary options. (Sound FX: Cook House Bugle Call) Liked hearing about your interest in mixed nuts & seeds, Cheesy, and that you're adding them to various other things. What you said reminded me of a recipe I'd seen on-line recently as it contains pistachios & slivered almonds with an option on sunflower seeds & pumpkin seeds so I thought you might like to see it - it was easy to find again, and the 'Recipe Tin' www is excellent - if you want to, you can register with them & they'll email you recipes once or twice a week - this is how I came across the Pilaf in the first place, and if I ever make it I'm sure I'll add celery + some dukkah. Here you are: Rice Pilaf with Nuts, Seeds and Dried Fruit www.recipetineats.com/rice-pilaf/
(SIREN) Come in Cheesy, Come in, Cheesy.......
Did you have a look at this recipe yet, sunbeam?

Came across these little fookers in Greece this summer ... Do not, if you come into contact with them, I repeat, do not, open the bag, they are like fookin' crack cocaine ... I could show you pictures of the missus with a family bag but it doesn't make pleasant viewing! Stay well clear!

French Onion Dip Perhaps dips are more popular in the USA than in the UK? I dunno…….. anyway: There's an excellent Aussie cooking blog called 'RecipeTin Eats' who will email you a weekly recipe bundle if you want them to (you just register your EM address with them), and this has just landed as part of one. I haven't made it, but as the dip is suggested to accompany snacks I naturally thought all our snack fans on 'ere would want to see it……. the link also includes a video: www.recipetineats.com/homemade-french-onion-dip/Chorus from many snackers: 'You're so thoughtful, considerate, and kind to us, Murph.'
Me (blushingly): 'This is true.'

Lunch today included a bag of Walkers Cheese and Onion (which seem to be getting back to their 70's greatness after a few years in the doldrums flavour-wise) and an Asda Cherry Madeira Loaf Cake. Does it class as a savoury snack? I'll leave that to the experts but it was jolly nice.
The intention was to have a slice & take the rest home. But so moist & tasty it was, I scoffed the whole thing.
Now I need to buy another one, eat a smnall slice & take the rest home to Mrs Q to try & convince her I'm not a total glutton and I haven't eaten an entire cake in one go.
That's after I've had a good kip and somehow rolled myself off my chair & up the road to Asda. Exceedingly full belly.

Hafe time snax: Ready Salted Walkers...
My bwouy Leroy extolling the virtues of the buttery, nutty taste... they're lovely I've neglected the plain... mmm... absolutely spot on... I warned him they can be a duplicitous beast, often bland.... He countered: At times I've had cheese & onion and thought them disappointing... for me the RS are always above standard...
Ready Salted up there.....

When I go on a night out I’ll always order the biggest kebab and eat half, the rest I usually stick in the oven for safe keeping just in case. In the night, say 3am I’ll hear the Mrs get up presuming a toilet visit. I get up the following day and open the oven to find said kebab demolished! Outrageous behaviour😫

Anyway, she went out for the day. Hungry, about dinner time I went in to said bin, got it out and whacked it straight in the microwave. Lovely, didn't touch the sides.

A new fresh produce/Deli just opened here recently and they've got a new line in. Two Farmers crisps. Herefordshire hand cooked. Four flavours all based on the usual suspects, salt and vinegar etc.. I've just had a go at Hereford Bullshot. Get your hands on some ASAP.

Co Op home brand Pigs in Blankets grab bag soared to the top spot of the seasonal Savoury Snack chart. Incomparable so far in the run up/down. Though the Tortilla Twists look funky but may require salsa, gauca, and or cheeese type accompianment... Still to find satisfactory biltong/chewy meat things. {Shoe leather not really registering as a snack...} Dry roasted and warm salted peanuts are in vogue. And there are chesnuts roasting in the potstove bottom drawerer....
The jury is still pondering whether chocolate peanuts qualify as a savoury snack....
