Or just fuck agents off all together and let the player talk terms. Football is the only industry i know of where the "artists" do not pay their own agent fees. Perhaps changing the rule to make this happen would reduce agents fees over night. It would also lessen the transfer merry go round that occurs twice a year. Even a reduction to 5%-10% is an eye watering amount for even the most modest transfer fee. I think that is an excellent idea, although I do remember stories about Col Tom Parker, who, when he received a huge offer for Elvis to perform, is reported to have said "Well that's OK for the kid, but how much are you going to offer me?"

If artists pay agents fees you just end up paying more for the artist so no real gain.

1. As most Premiership players are foreign and can't speak English I don't see how that can work. 2. Most premiership players are not businessmen and probably don't know their market value. 3. Most professional sports people are too busy to take on a dual role or sporting personality and agent. 3. Just about every talent whether it be actors, musicians, sportsmen, celebrities etc require a broker or agent to represent their best interests and it has been like that for over 100 years. 1.Use interpreters,do you know that players agents are from the same country/speak the same language. 2.you dont need to be a businessman to crack out a deal 3.Footballers have plenty of spare time. 4.Agents are only looking after their own best interests. So under your proposal some 18 year old from the Ivory Coast would be left to negotiate his own best interests versus the exploitative bastards that occupy the boardrooms of the clubs of Europe???!! Agents are a large part of the problems within football but there is and will remain a role for them. It's a matter of how they are regulated and controlled.

If the players pay the agent they have a choice, find a cheap agent or pay more out of their own money. I'm fairly certain this would drive down agent fees as a player would wonder why they are paying millions to somebody else. At the moment the don't care how much an agent gets.
