Says game has never been cleaner ! Think Peter has given up myself Peter Coates has been in football a long time, and seen it all. I tend to believe he knows what he is talking about. There were numerous stories of managers like Cloughie taking bangs, so it is nothing new.

With regards to the bungs probably so fca but given both the volleys him and hughes have directed at the fa this season its a strange stance bridge building ?

Guess he wouldn't come out and say that today, unless he wasn't expecting any surprise allegations re his own club from any of The Torygraph's up and coming allegations about alleged corruption in football.
Did I remember to say alleged?

Aren't agents employed by players? So I agree they should be paying their agents

Just let the player pay the agent, is it that simple? Yes it is that simple and how it works in every other area of business where a client employs an agent. I've never understood why agents take a fee from clubs when it should be the player paying a percentage of their earnings to the agent. This is how it works in the entertainment industry, actors have an agent that deals with employment, negotiates contracts and the actor pays 10 percent of their earnings.

Or just fuck agents off all together and let the player talk terms. 1. As most Premiership players are foreign and can't speak English I don't see how that can work. 2. Most premiership players are not businessmen and probably don't know their market value. 3. Most professional sports people are too busy to take on a dual role or sporting personality and agent. 3. Just about every talent whether it be actors, musicians, sportsmen, celebrities etc require a broker or agent to represent their best interests and it has been like that for over 100 years.

Or just fuck agents off all together and let the player talk terms. Football is the only industry i know of where the "artists" do not pay their own agent fees. Perhaps changing the rule to make this happen would reduce agents fees over night. It would also lessen the transfer merry go round that occurs twice a year. Even a reduction to 5%-10% is an eye watering amount for even the most modest transfer fee.

I'm afraid Mr. Coates is just about as football establishment as you can get - great chairman though. You should listen to the full interview. He talks a lot of sense. This sort of behaviour was rife years ago, despite the Telegraph uncovering a few scrotes it isn't anymore. Peter simply points out that there are so many rules and regluations from all the governing bodies in football that as a football club you have no choice but to be clean. Of course there will always be individuals that will be the exception, but they are few and far between compared to years ago. Hard not to agree surely?
