Controversial but I can't help feeling the old fella has had his time. We've sleepwalked into this mess. John Coates needs to step up, take over and be ruthless.
Scholes and Cartwright need to be shown the door after the appointment of a new Manager.
Where's my tin hat......

Running scared sort of post.... Not really, perhaps at the end of the season. Something needs to change top to bottom. You've said we've let this go on for too long and have rightly blamed the manager - surely that suggests the hierarchy have let it go as well. Too many of them have it too cushy down there.

I'm ploughing familiar ground here but if not Carto the whole department needs a review doesn't it? When you end up with a squad so imbalanced, so bereft of pace, it's the manager first then the recruitment department next isn't it?

Peter is very much just a figure head, denise, Jon and Richard are very much heavily in control of the direction the club is going, I would guess that if denise feels a change is needed, a change will be made irrelevant of Peter's views.

Why Scholes? All he does is the contracts with regards to the players, he doesn't pick or train anyone.

Maybe if the chairman resigned tomorrow, we could still reach the 100 points total this season. Oh, that it was as simple . . . . . . !

I think there has been a degree of complacency. I am deeply suspicious of our 'transfer team'. I don't think the appropriate pressure was applied when things were going so wrong last season to produce solutions - especially in the close season. Our youth set up remains no nearer producing players of the required quality. Generally I think it's not unreasonable to ask if the club has been a bit smug in the past 12 months.

I doubt the wise old sage has diminished his power base so much. We always assume getting old means losing touch. Getting senile. We forget the accumulated experience and wisdom. The owners set the overall direction and goals for the club and the budget. Management, recruiters, and coaches implement it. In many respects all three areas have let the owners down. Now the owners need to figure out who's responsible for what broken elements and fix it. Right now it seems like all three areas of the business are damaged and have failed to deliver.

So is he carrying on till we wheel him out in a box?
I think people are getting a bit carried away. Coates has done brilliantly but things move on. Sorry it's the way of the world.
It's all to easy to blame the manager (and the Hughes is cuplable) but who appoints him? Who monitors him? Who lets it slide?

Peter is far from senile and has much to offer SCFC, the way the business is structured as a subsidury of bet365 ultimately Denise, if she wanted could pull rank, especially with the rebranding of the stadium, the planned expansion and the increased SCFC/bet365 exposure relegation will not be considered as an option, the minute squeaky bums start at bet365 offices will be the time a change of manager will take place.
