Is it possible we could see Cameron or Muniesa alongside Shawcross and BIM moved to left back in place of the fellow who looked like a supporter playing at left back. Or just play Muniesta at left back? Aint great is it any of the options .

I'd give Muni a go. Can put in a decent ball, can't exactly be much worse than Pieters has been for ages

Zaha will skin Pieters that's for sure and probably Muniesta so I would play BIM their as he looks quicker. Need height against Beteke so Shawcross and Cameron best I can come up with. ---------------------Given-------------------
Bardsley-----Ryan-------Cameron------Indi
--------------Allen-------Whelan------------
---Shaq -----------Bojan-----------Arnie for 30 mins ---
----------------------Bony--------------------

Muniesa for Pieters. Eric needs a rest, limping again as he came off Saturday and despite him having a much better 1st half he's still not at the races. If Johnson is fit I'd even advocate the dreaded 3 at the back:
Given
Cameron Shawcross Indi
Johnson Allen Imbula Muniesa
Bojan Arnautovic
Bony

I'd do it just to get more help centrally even if Muniesa or Cameron get the birth but that still doesn't stop the shit in front of the backline week after week.

We need a settled CB partnership, not the time to start messing with them.

We need a settled CB partnership, not the time to start messing with them. This. I'd rather us play Joel Taylor than Pieters. Muni otherwise if Hughes (more than likely) doesn't fancy going for a youth option.

Muniesa should start at left back and Bardsley at right back (if Johnson isn't fit enough) I certainly wouldn't be going for 3 at the back though. I'd be dropping Imbula and going 4231 with Bojan just behind Bony, Allen as the box to box midfielder, and Whelan sitting in front of the back four. Shaqiri for Walters (if fit). If not, stick Diouf out there with Sobhi ready to step in if it doesn't pan out.
To me that is as balanced as we get with the players we have at our disposal at the minute. I really can't see an argument for 3 at the back with the squad we have, and I'm not a fan of the system anyway.

It's not who is playing it's the system or the lack thereof And we have a winner Seriously until the system is changed we will be in trouble, teams are leaving arnie as he's stuck out on the wing leaving 3 in the middle with imbula having no clue how to defend, leaving 2. Those 2 will keep being over run - the same happened yrs ago when TP kept playing 2 wingers, we eventually got figured out and he hat to move ethers more into the middle.

I'm starting to think I'd actually do something a bit different. A bit crazy.
I'd be tempted to play Pieters with Muniesa in front of him and Arnie out on the right, if Shaq isn't fit. It will stiffen up the flank a lot, Muni is more than decent going forward and it should cut off a fair bit of supply to Benteke. Also, isn't it true that Muniesa started out as a left winger, or am I dreaming it up to fit my (ropey) suggestion?
Sorry to go all 'Capped one' but needs must and we need clean sheets.
If Shaq is fit then scrub the above.

Shawcross and Bruno looked solid on Saturday. Hughes needs to pick a CB pairing and stick with it until one gets injured. All this constant reshuffling is the reason they look like they've never played together half of the time.

Surely tinkering with the back line is not the issue.
The team were in with a shout for virtually all the first half. Surely the issue is that forwards and midfielders are not helping out with defending when the opposition have the ball and there are too many of the opposition in space in our third when they should be marked out. This results in back line players being pulled out of position.

If Sparky adjusts the CB partnership on Sunday, I'm done. One area that needs time and will come good over time is Ryan and Bruno.

Yeah let's play a centre back who did well at the weekend at left back. Solid idea.

Didn't pulis get slated for playing big centre half's at full back?? This would remind me of Blackburn a few years ago and sonko playing there. As already said we need stability. Indi and Ryan need to gel.

I'm not sure exactly what Muniesa is, but he's definitely not a centre back.
