Still loving this one
These are a strange group, not retrowave but specialising in movie ost type music, particularly Italian 70s cop thrillers

Found this one the other day, a bit more upbeat but has a good beat to it.

Brought this one back as I watched Maniac with Elijah wood recently and enjoyed it and was particularly impressed with the very 80s inspired, John Carpenteresque synth soundtrack Love this particular one I like this one from the opening part when he's driving about. One of the better remakes, and this definitely has an electro/grindhouse vibe to compliment it:

This is up there with any of John Carpenter's synth scores:

Seeing as we've had Heavy Metal and all the others I thought I'd kickstart this one 😊 Here's my favourite Youtube channel when it comes to this stuff. www.youtube.com/channel/UCD-4g5w1h8xQpLaNS_ghU4gand here are some of my favourites, which I understand this genre is very niche but give it a try! Great post, always liked the original music from this era and got into it via chip tunes and being a fan of 80s synth anyway the new stuff sounds great. And the gta vice city ost. Loving films like Tron, Blade Runner and the drive OST has really bought this type of music back. Kavinsky, Powerglove are good. Also a game called Hotline Miami, the soundtrack to that is something else. Look it up Always looking for this type of music so bring on the recommendations

There's so many different subgenres of synthwave/retrowave it's crazy! I love Hotline Miami's OST as well as Vice City. The Blade Runner 2049 (brilliant film) OST is good too!

I've really got into this stuff, Carpenter Brut, GOST, Shredder 1984, Perturbator, Hexenkraft - its the business. You can't really like Metal or 80s sci-fi and horror and not dig this

I believe Perturbator has his roots in Black Metal, doesn't he?

Love the artwork! This is why art holds so much value in society as its just timeless along with the music! Names are great!

I’d recommend the synth wave vol 1,2,3 on iTunes if anyone hasn’t bought them yet

A few of these tracks remind me of Apoptygma Bezerk, who have been doing this sort of thing since the 90s. I think it was called futurepop - there are so many subgenres I can't distinguish between them sometimes.
I like the Mega Drive and XYLE tunes enough to check out more by them. I enjoy some bands/artists who have a bit of synthwave about them such as:
Probably not really synthwave at all, but rather epic:
I also like music with a chiptune influence. There's an awesome cover of Weezer's Holiday by Anamanaguchi.

Nice, chilled sound. Normally I like a harder sound but this is relaxing, love the sax.

As I always say, I prefer a harder sound but this album is extraordinarily good. It's so nostalgic and a couple of times I got quite choked by the lyrics actually.
