Got to be given a few months of the season to see us out of this slump. It isn't rocket science though, if you want to stop losing games and conceding soft goals you get a decent defence whoose first priority is defending & not playing football, when you are dripping goals like we are you get a dedicated defensive coach in and work on shape, set-piece organisation etc then you work your way to goals. Conceding goals like we do is no good for anyone and does little to ease pressure on attack if they know they need to score 2 & 3 a match to win because the chances are we won't do it.
Top defensive coach in for me to show some intent on tightening the defence and a quality CB by deadline day. Only one person to blame for skimping on fees & training in these areas sadly, I believe it's called making your own bed and lying in it. There are things we can do to improve it, it's if we decide too. Failing to do it and the answer to the OP..

Stop making excuses Regardless of the opposition it's the managers job to have the right tactics and a game plan that works. Hughes hasn't for had any of that since Christmas. Not to mention his ineffective substitutions... How are these excuses, he's perfectly right in what's he's said,so if we played some easier teams and had a couple of lucky wins at home, would that make us better, no it wouldn't because we play all the same games at the end, that's when you make hard choices. If we won three easy games I would expect to win the league either. It doesn't matter who play, it's clear Hughes's tactics and management has been shit since Christmas and that needs to change and quick

Sean Dyche by October This would take us right back to where we were under Pulis - defensive football designed to get drag us to 40 points. If we want to be regulars in the top half of the table we have to play the possession based game Hughes is trying to get us to adopt. We need to do it better but the direction is right. Your vision for the club goes beyond getting rid of Hughes - you want to take our football back to the dark ages. It looks to me like you would be far happier seeing us play your nostalgic football in the championship than taking a shot at playing in Europe. Thankfully you're in the minority.

Fucking idiots that what they are But truth be told they all have some unblinded loyalty to a previous manager and who are actually loving every single minute of what is currently happening Just my opinion like How can you say they are idiots? I'm sure they want success for the club just as much as any other Stoke fan. When Hughes came I was really pleased with his appointment. Now my doubts are beginning to set in. We've not scored in open play yet, one penalty and one free kick. We don't look like we're going to score.

Remember my words 4 years ago, 'haters hate' chiefdelilah ?! There's maybe two who that applies to. Wonder who the first person to outright call for Pulis to come back will be on here? Not counting march... Yes, no names but there are 1 or 2 other sometime anti-Pulistas bubbling quietly under too! Needless to say I am a straight no frills "Remain" man, no "Hexit" for me

I don't think there is any reason to panic and changing the management team at this early stage would be catastrophic .
I only watched the game on Kodi but thought we played well and Everton were very lucky to get the result.
A clinical finisher who gets the service and we will up and away.
I have advocated in the past giving Diouf a regular run but I am now beginning to have my doubts.
We should ignore or shout down the small minority of people calling for "Hughes Out", and hope that he is able to iron out the problems that we ,like many other clubs, have.

I wonder if were in the bottom three at Christmas with Hughes still in charge. I wonder if Mr Coates would pick up the phone to the capped one again?

I championed Hughes 3 years before he got the job and he's done a great job but now 3 years in it all looks to be going a bit stale. He needs a stonking last few days in the window and to sort his shit out because to be honest, he's starting to get on my tits a little bit.

Someone with passion. Who kicks every ball. Fist pumping and chest beating. That's what this club needs. Personally I'd go for Harry Bassett with Stan Ternant as his assistant..... All we need is for Les to replicate the jumper toss (almost 100 feet in the 😎😎air) at Newcastle on Boxing Day two years ago and that will jump start our season.

We're 1 win from 7th place ffs.
I'll reserve my judgement on Hughes until after at least 10 games and most certainly not bitch and moan about having no transfer targets/plan B until the window is closed.

We played in Europe not so very long ago. Fair point. But do you think our future is better served by trying to play like Man City or like Burnley? No disrespect to Burnley they are aiming to do what we did when we came up. But to see that as the next step in our progress in the premier league is just a bit tragic. Football isn't going to regress to the 1970s even if some people wish we never left it. The world's moved on and not everyone wants to get left behind. We need to do what we're trying to do better not rip up the plan and go back to where we were.

think we have a few problems and thats for the manager to sort out i cant change anything and thats what he is paid for. we did not start well last season 3 points from 6 games so not going to panic yet. but we have a very important few days till the transfer window shuts. i just wonder what we did in the summer we needed a full back 2 central defender a midfielder and a scorer we have signed a very decent midfielder but what about the rest?????

So who's coming in to rescue us then Einstein? dont change the conversation admit your wrong, and hughes is not the savour. The thread is asking the Hughes out crew who they would like to come in as a replacement. So who is it for you then Einstein? I've already stated that I don't want him gone but he is getting on my tits a bit, mainly because of his constant fannying around with the team. I'm not wrong about anything, Hughes has proved before that he is capable of turning things around and producing better finishes than any other modern day manager. He will do it again, providing he, along with the transfer team, bring in the correct players. My worry is that it's getting a bit stale.

So who's coming in to rescue us then Einstein? dont change the conversation admit your wrong, and hughes is not the savour. What exactly do you mean by "the savour "? In his first 3 seasons he surpassed anything the previous manager achieved in the league..without playing 8 defenders either. As things stand he has got himself into a bit of a mess and the next 2 or 3 month could make or break him.
