With the Olympic Games almost over who is in the running for BBC Sports Personality of The Year. Forget athletics. Forget Tennis. Forget cycling. For me there is only one contender. He represented his Country with distinction and commitment. He performs as well off the pitch as he does on it. Absolute role model for youngsters in any sport. Never gets any bad press. Just a great sportsman and a great human being. Ladies and gentlemen I give you Mr Jack Willshere. If anyone can disagree I'd be most surprised.

Don't know the man obviously but the 'Personality' aspect has to be factored into any nomination. Bit of a desert in that respect methinks. Makes that bloke who was in the shooting competition a veritable Ali esque star.

Think the Welsh football team are a shout for team? Everyone creamed over them at the euros Would hate it to happen but just thought maybe they had a chance

Everyone creamed over them at the euros Would hate it to happen but just thought maybe they had a chance they did well in the euros no denying that but i think it would be very harsh on the teams that actually WON things to vote for the Wales side. Both the women's hockey (never medalled at the olympics before) or Leicester (who played far higher than their status should have allowed for 38 games rather than 6) should get this one i'd have thought...unless they bottle it and just give it to the whole of Team GB (which is a bit of a cop out if you ask me)

The England Rugby Union team probably won't have a better year than they've had and they aren't even in the running for team of the year. It'll go to 'Team GB' if not leicester anyway.

Will defo go to team GB though, which like you say is a massive cop out! haha Thanks for not calling me a dick head and having a sensible debate on the matter! Not like this site

I'd give it to Chris Langridge for what he said in his interview when he qualified for the mens badminton doubles, something on the lines of, "I'm not the best player here, but I work bloody hard". You don't have to be the best at something to get to the top.

Currently giving this a watch.
Only one winner i think realistically Stokes for what he did in the Summer.
You would give Gabby Logan a go in that dress.

Ben Stokes has to win but I like Dina Asher Smith and I think Lewis Hamilton deserves more recognition, he should win it before he retires.

Good to see some awards heading cricket’s way. The sport needed to re-emphasise it’s status as one of the nations 2 main sports and 2019 did that.
