How the hell did the bbc report have Boro being denied a victory ? Both teams were shit but they were more shit than us . Hiow folk think Imbula is class at the minute is beyond me m he's shit, yes I know he's not shit when he's on his game, but he's really not been on his game. Whelan is hard to work out, we tend to be shit without him but shit when he's rattled.

A point.
Who was it spouting about humble pie? Embarrassing. Hahaha.
The defending for their goal was awful.
A point will suffice. Can't say I'm optimistic about Saturday.

Happy with a draw. Thought we were the better side overall and will get better with a few games under our belt. Observations + Imbula. The guy is a class act. + Bojan looks like he's getting back to his best. + Given looked solid. Felt a lot better with him between the sticks than Haugaard. + Played some nice football when breaking. + Ryan getting through a full 90. + I'd have taken a draw at HT. + We still have Johnson and Butland to come back and hopefully a new CB and Striker. Even without them we looked the better side for most the game. + Sobhi still up our sleeves. - Our defence looks shaky. Eric in particular looked really shakey. - Glen was poor. We needs a younger DM if that's what the plan is. Either that or try Allen with Imbula. - Thought both full backs were poor. Eric in particular looked like he was treading water. - We looked under prepared. - Defending set pieces we still look very shaky. - We lack pace. - When we're knocking the ball around the back it terrfies me. Too many short sideways balls and not enough incisive passes. Sums it up nicely. Some positives - Some negatives. Not a tragedy nor a triumph. Roll on next week and 3 points against a team that struggled to beat Sunderland at their own ground. <Digs out video of Beattie goal and last season's demolition act>

Even when Whelan was having a shocker it was Bojan who made way for Allen. That's two games in a row where Allen could have replaced Whelan but one of Imbula/Bojan made way instead. So far Hughes has played Allen in exactly the same position he played for Swansea and Liverpool. Which begs the obvious question. Aside from him being a very good footballer, just why the hell has he bought him when one of Imbula or Bojan will have to make way to play him in this current set up? Joe Allen is not the problem.

I'll tell you what........ we could have snatched it!
That last minute free kick that Shaq took was right on Wolly's head until George Friend intervened !!
Fair doos, was a great cross, but cracking defending.

It's funny how different you can watch and evaluate a game of football. After the Boro game, BBC wrote: "Stoke knicked a point late in the game from what seemed to be a well deserved Mboro victory". But M Hughes pre game analysis included: "We produced some dynamic football, and looked to be the team more likely to win the game." During the Tony Pulis days it was even worse, he almost never admited when things went completely wrong. Sometimes we should have won games without a single shot on goal, according to him. But the master of this was definitely the former Sweden team boss, Hamrén. After the game vs Austria 0-4 he said: "You can't always judge things by the result, you must see what happened on the pitch ..." Yeah, right, it could have been double figures. Ok start from us. Hopeful!

Hello all Some of you may have seen already, but me and some mates have been running a Stoke City podcast over the summer and we're already up to eight episodes. This week we had a chat about the Middlesbrough game, the academy, Marc Wilson and a preview of the Man City game. It's available on SoundCloud here or you can subscribe on iTunes by searching for 'Wizards of Drivel' soundcloud.com/user-602020638/wizards-08-deploy-ngoyWe're always on the lookout for ideas and constructive criticism so we can improve. It's a difficult one to record given that it's three of us skyping each other from opposite ends of the country so the sound quality isn't always 100%, but we're getting better at editing week-on-week. So yeah, if podcasts are your thing (or if they're not) give it a listen and give us your thoughts.

Particularly liked your chat about the youth, it's great to get that perspective. Didn't think I'd stick an hour, but I did and it stayed pithy. Hope you post a link each week, I'll listen in. At the end there was talk of 'Sam's what if? FM Lab Stoke 3-5-2.' is there a link for this?
