Attended a (Rugby League) game in Huddersfield last month and it reminded me of a game few years ago now, maybe 20 odd took my son to see the Mighty Potters take on Huddersfield Town at their old Leeds Road ground. 'Ground' was an understatement, it was a shit-hole with starlight for the roof in the gents. The main stand was completely open and terraced and I recall the home fans de-camping at half-time from one end of the stand to the other. Anyhow pretty poor performance by Stoke. We stood behind the goal and I recall their goal, the ball stuck in the gap between the bar and the net, called a stanchion. Stuck there for what seemed ages but it was a clear goal. The John Smith's is good-looking stadium now and switches easily between football and rugby. Same stewards though.
