The Midsomer Undertaker must be worth a few bob. Wasn't an undertaker bumped off in one of the previous series ?

Are there any methods of dispatching someone that haven't been tried yet. We've had 'crushed by cheese' was just wondering...

What about an excruciating death caused by schoolchildren playing the recorder (do they still do that anymore ?) - that would be agony !!

Being force fed sausage and cheese oatcakes until you are so full they burst out of your ears and down your nose !

If anyone is interested, ITV3 are repeating from the very first episode from this week onwards. Never seen anything from the first 3 seasons or so so I'm quite looking forward to them

Never seen anything from the first 3 seasons or so so I'm quite looking forward to them Thanks for that - My wife is a Midsomer Murders fan so she'll no doubt have them on series link to watch them all over again ! I used to like George Bullard as the pathologist - it's not been so good with some of the later more recent ones. I don't like the current Barnaby either, not a patch on John Nettles.

Didn't he recently pass away, the pathology guy? Couldnt agree more there's something about Neil Dudgeon that I find unappealing. I've never taken to him really. I still watch the new series but the characters and plots pale against the John Nettles era.

Think I'm right in saying that many of the episodes were written by the late Jeremy Gwilt a keen Stoke fan hence many of the characters bearing Stoke City related names. Pretty sure two bad guys (who turned out to be red herrings) were called Coates and Humphreys in one episode.

Yes he died in 2013 having left the series in 2011 (thought it was later than that). Dudgeon just isn't "Midsomer" and he doesn't really fit the show at all.

What about Inspector Morse, better or worse?

New series starts next Sunday evening on ITV. Season 20!!
Have to say my enthusiasm is tempered by the unlikeable present cast particularly Neil Dudgeon as John Barnaby who isn't a patch on John Nettles and his Tom Barnaby. As Deeside said he's just not the right fit. Plus the scripts are poorer. Still it's better than most of the reality bilge about although it obv pales against something like Shetland.
Tellingly the listings I saw described it as a comedy series. That's perhaps part of it, that the humour has gone from a pinch of black comedy in carefully measured subtle doses to tongues now firmly in cheek 😒

IMO the whole thing has been totally buggered up since John Nettles left. I never missed an episode when he was in it - not a one. When the new guy, Neil Dudgeon, started I tried to watch it but I just couldn't settle into it - it had somehow lost the special touch it had had for so many years before. I suppose I shouldn't have instantly judged it on just the one first episode, but I've never even considered watching it since. Maybe I'm being too aaaaaard!

In the style of these Alien v Predator , Freddy v Jason films I think a Midsomer crossover could work.
Would love to see Barnaby v Monk or perhaps Morse v Psych. Imagine the ratings

(Not Surf - the other one!) She got 'disposed of' sharpish! John Nettles did the biz and caught the culprit, though.

Imagine the ratings it would be nice to see John Nettles return for one episode. Won't happen though as it would show how poor his replacement is!!

Are we allowed to ask why you have a (I love it) pic of the North Staffs Hotel as your AV? At a guess, did you come to Stoke-on-Trent by train, for a footie match, so this was the first S-o-T scene you ever saw when you got off it and left the railway station? I'm being a detective now, you realise............

Nice bit of nostalgia for the 60's, well apart from all the murders that is. Don't know if you ever watched George Gently either ? I used to enjoy that as well.

Nevertheless, I think it still seems priceworthy. Btw, I have no trouble staying in *-ranked or unrated places either.😁
