Great movie, this. Overlooked because of his recent er, behaviour.
The Mad Max reboot is pretty high octane as well.

Shocked that this isn't here (Im biased as it is my all time favourite movie)
Id certainly echo Die Hard, Id also say Die Hard 2 is a little underrated
Raiders Of The Lost Ark - heads & above the best Indy movie
Would definitely endorse Conan The Barbarian
Terminator 1 - still the best & darkest
And Rocky 3 for the ott but great fight scenes - love the sound fx

Also a shout for Stallone's massively underrated Cobra (1986) Great movie for shootouts, car chases, full on 80s ultra violence
Predator gets a bit stale after a million outings on ITV2 but I still love that minigun
Also Predator 2, cant find a clip but the opening gun battle with the Jamaicans & Colombians is pretty intense stuff

Bit of a cult film this makes no sense at all and its pretty low budget but its non stop action and probably the best of all the Italian knockoffs that dominated the early 80s video market

Seen Fury Road mentioned
Im a huge fan of the Max franchise - well at least parts 1&2, Thunderdome was a huge disappointment; its ok and its visually great, but not violent enough and not enough car/vehicle action either. The end chase was beautifully filmed but lacked the brutality of what was in the 2nd movie.
Don't get me wrong, Fury Road does make up for the disappointing third but I was in truth a little underwhelmed. Far too much focus on Theron, again that final chase was so so, could argue that the movie's best action was in the opening act. Hardy LOOKED the part but his performance is hit & miss. Plus it was very disappointing to see the Interceptor used so sparingly after 34 years. It felt more like a movie inspired by Mad Max than an actual Max movie.
I'm still looking forward to the next one, I'm fine with Hardy continuing as well - I just hope there's little or no Furiosa (somehow I doubt it as I concede that she was very popular). George Miller tends to not worry about things like a coherent timeline so we could well see Max back with the famous black car. I'd be happier to see a more smaller scale movie with tighter, sharper action scenes rather than the ott carmageddon of Fury Road. The 2nd movie had been there & done it all better before. Something like a revenge film would appeal. Oh and a bit less sand, it never felt like Australia in Fury Road, could tell a lot was filmed in Africa. I'd like to see something more like the ruined wasteland of the earlier movies, with traces of roads, ruins etc - rather than an environment more like Tatooine in Star Wars.
At least it wasn't as bad as the last Terminator movie LOL

Also fun fact, Shane Black is making the new Predator movie with a rumoured budget on par with Iron Man 3 and possibly Arnie coming back as an old Dutch

Yeah, the reboot is going to be produced or directed by the directors of the Captain America movies (Winter Soldier/Civil War)

Star Wars. When does an action movie cease to become an action movie ? You can have action in it but it's not really seen as that type of film. I may have answered my own question.
